This is the aftermath of multiple grenades going off at the same time. The grenade is only an early prototype at this point.

Does look like what would happen when you hit a bunch of people with a grenade, they don't just fly away like in the movies, they get ripped and pulled apart by the schrapnel and the force of the explosion itself.
