Once you pick a contract you're paid upfront for some of the cost of setup. You buy the required gear and wire it all up, power, network, servers, etc. Over time you will face issues like over-capacity and failure, which you can learn to overcome. As you progress you install load balancers, failover power and better more powerful servers.
