Bernie Needs Love is, in essence, a simple and lighthearted platformer in which the player must guide Bernie, a nice but anguished old man chased by death, towards his girlfriend — while avoiding the many hazards of a poorly maintained yet beautiful city and collecting blue 'love-enhancing' pills to make it an extra-special night! In a time of eye candy and accessibility over gameplay and personality, Bernie Needs Love truly stands out from the crowd with its charming retro graphics, lovingly composed chiptune music, and hardcore difficulty level — which are sure to satisfy players who grew up in the 8-bit era.
Protomni Multimedia has just made its retro platformer 'Bernie Needs Love' available for pre-purchase on IndieCity with a 50% discount.

'Bernie Needs Love' is a retro platformer in which the player must help Bernie, a nice but anguished old man chased by the grim reaper, get to his girlfriend at the end of each level — and its Windows version is available for pre-purchase on IndieCity for US$2.50. Check out some gameplay footage in the video below:
If you buy the game while in beta, not only you'll receive a 50% off discount, but also frequent and automatic updates as more levels and features are implemented. The full version is expected in March and will offer 30 levels set in 3 different areas.
A free demo with the first 5 levels is also available on Kongregate and should help you decide if the steep difficulty level the game offers is for you. All in all, if you grew up playing the 8bit classics of the 80's and feel current games all look the same and provide little actual challenge, you'll sure be in for a good pixelated time, full of lovingly crafted sprites and rich chiptunes that are faithful to the sounds and moods of that era!
