Love this game, I have been getting the axolotl on every level and am currently stuck on (I think the 5th level in) Wizard's lair. Is there any walkthrough or video guide on how to get the axolotls? Thanks!

For anyone having sound issues, go into the game folder (C:\Program Files (x86)\Desura\Common\Beans Quest for me) and delete or move out the openal32.dll file from that folder. Make sure the game isn't running when you do this.

Next start the game and you should have sound. This worked for me on Windows 7 64-bit.

I'd like to add, do all this at your own risk and don't yell at me if something goes wrong =)

It's been a while since I visited the page for this game. I see that a demo has now been made available, and that the game is participating in the "Because We May" promotion. As I said before, this is an absolutely incredible game. Do yourself a favor and pick it up right now, or at least play the demo.

While looking at Because We May, I also noticed that Bean's Quest has been ported to Android. I've suggested this to other developers in the same situation on Desura, and now it's time I asked this to you folks at Kumobius. I'm not interested in buying games through Google's store. Not even for $1. I lost about $10 worth of games after I upgraded to my Android phone (including Doom RPG!). I'm not in the market for anything on Google Play, but I'd certainly like to buy some games for my phone!

I brought this up back in March when I left my review for Bean's Quest. I don't mean to cannibalize sales of the Android version during this promotion, but what I'm saying is that, if it is not too much trouble, it would be excellent if the APK for Bean's Quest was made available as a complimentary "purchased download", so that your customers on Desura could enjoy your game across even more of their platforms.

Humble Android Bundle 1 and 2 did it, some Indievania titles (such as Fairy Mahjong 3D and Marball Odyssey) include APKs, and Marball Odyssey is, as far as I know, the first and only title title on Desura to support Android. It'd be really great to see Kumobius follow suit. :)

Just curious - how did you lose your games? It didn't happen to be this:

No. As I said before, I was referring to the phone I had before I upgraded to an Android phone. Doom RPG is not available on Android, and so it was not transferred, along with Burger Time, Gradius, and Pac-Man Puzzle, among a few others I can't recall. Plus, they were tied to that phone, so I've pretty much lost those purchases forever.

I expect it's possible that I won't be able to play Android games one day, perhaps, but it seems more likely that with a mature platform such as this, that day won't be for a good while, and even then, we'll probably have some method of dealing with compatibility by then.

My point is, I want to actually OWN any phone games I get (Like any other game I get, really. Nobody likes DRM), not merely visit Google Play and have them flip a switch on my account settings to permit me to download and run it from my current phone.

Sorry, I understand your point completely, and I agree with it - I was just trying to be helpful, as the issue that I linked to above happened to me and others I know. (You weren't very clear about how you lost games)

Bean's Quest just nails it. Either you go the easy way, just finishing the levels and having fun, enjoying a game that's quite easy, quirky and colorful or you go the hard way and try to perfect each stage, enjoying a game that's a real PITA, colorful and frustratingly, deliciously, excruciatingly devious. As you did with most REALLY good platformers. The gameplay is simple enough to be picked up by kids in seconds (left arrow, right arrow) and it has everything the more demanding player could want…

@nolelet because we changed some of the graphics rendering under the hood so we want to test it slowly.

@nolelet we're doing a slow roll out for the latest Android Duet update

@coupler ah fair enough. Bizarre that Google don't fix it then. Hopefully in time.

When I say smarter notifications I mean: if I read a gmail email, why does its notification stick around? Makes no sense.

May 18 2015, 9:05am by tcmg

Selecting a default mail app, map, event etc is the most concerning because iOS8 was the perfect opportunity to resolve this

May 18 2015, 9:04am by tcmg

Two features I wish iOS would borrow from Android: smarter notifications and setting default apps for mail, location, event data etc.

@Vilinthril 9 perfect curves: that's tougher but still you will want to rewind and to aim for curve perfectly, etc.

May 14 2015, 5:46am by kumobius

@Vilinthril for the first one, you can crash, then rewind, then crash again, etc, rinse and repeat. It is pretty easy to get to 15 that way.

May 14 2015, 5:46am by kumobius

@Vilinthril well, the answer to both really is... by rewinding time.
