Theme of the game 8 Kingdoms is inspirated by the world of fantasy. Players play on a fully 3D hex map. They construct buildings, recruit units including infantry, mounted units, mages, catapults and finally they attack enemy or help allies. Units gain experiences during the battle, each unit can get some abilities upgraded to be stronger. Data are stored in XML and freely accessible - from language versions to units' attributes, moreover map editor with random map generator is included for comfortable map editing.

8 Kingdoms is a project that has been going on since 2003. It started as a student project, and moved gently into the opensource community.
Since the previous team had no longer time to maintain the project, a few persons and I decided to take it over and make it go forward.
Our current goal is to revise the sources, to erradicate crashes, improve both performance and compatiblity issues. Once it's done, we will focus on the graphics, adding new features, etc, etc...
We are really interested in your feedbacks and opinions regarding the 1.1.0 release, as long as they don't concern bugs and crashes: because of the source rewriting, those one will disapear, and completely different new ones shall show up.
