Ive noticed only n00bs hate steam.

The bugs are worked out, the games recieve constant tweaks and fixes now, the program loads and downloads quickly and it doesnt run with an old shitty gui.

I see no reason to oppose it.

Steam is not bad. at first i was skeptiacal since i herd that it had a lot of proplems but sicne i got it i have not had any problems. i have looked through many of the complaints and many of them were only being caused by their fire walls wich was easilly fixed.

steam is good, what bothers me is that killing WON wasn't really necesary (SP?)

Yeah, don't fix what ain't broke.

And they had to go *this* far to stop the directsound bug and do minor cheat fixes

I think not just n00bs; people end up hating it because they see things that are better in WON than this supposedly new and better system, STEAM.

STEAM may well be better overall, but that's not going to stop people - n00bs and others - from hating it for its flaws.

I've never actually used STEAM, but considering all the bitching I've heard about it, surely Valve could set up a feedback system and figure out what people like/hate about it compared to WON and use that feedback to make many of their gamers happy again?

Installed Steam, tried to play CS.. it didnt't even want to run. After waiting 7 minutes, it runned.. but then hanged up. So I uninstalled. Ventured through some support forums, but didnt' find anything. And then, I sticked to WON. Call me a n00b, but steam sux0rz in my case, I don't care. It's a good system, played using it in internet cafe's.. but it's just not working for me.

You are aware that you have to wait for it to download cs properly? LOL

I did that with CZ, I was like wtf does it keep crashing, so I went to monitor and it'd only downloaded 88%, when it got to 100% it worked fine - I agree it shouldnt let you play until its got 100%.

Again, there is not one single reason to hate steam. It is just more rounded and superb. Its harder to cheat on, I think thats why so many people oppose it.

and add new guns, new maps, new rules, new models, a new expansion, player shadows, etc.

Infact go read the changelog for cz and cs

Why pay a bandwith bill for something you dont want to support? Those servers are being converted to Steam - thats why.

Yeah, there was a "preparing to play" screen, and it was downloading for one hour (came to 100%), but it didn't want to run at all, as I said - AFTER the download..

Again, even that screen is wrong. Go to monitor for a realistic percentage.

Valve have programmed it so that once 70% is downloaded it lets you play because realistically you could, but most maps are missing at that percentage, hence the crash.

I've had steam since last October. I still don't like it, it still crashes on me, and it still downloads CS updates even when I've set it not too. Don't say its bugfree and all the problems are fixed, when they aren't.
