K, I've just recently downloaded the sdk, but I can't get it to load. Or rather, I can, but it goes to the HL loading screen and... does jack crap. I've looked at numberous tutorials, and I think I have everything set up right, as well as having HL installed and updated. Just to be shure, here is what I have. [Game Configurations] [Build Programs] I'm running windows XP and have been trying to figure this out for like a week. |

Have you tried the -console parameter so you can see what it's trying to complain about? You best be doing that -- < insert subject games here >

Thx Cheap. Said "map not on server" after I used it, changed the place it saves maps to the valve/maps folder, all better. I think I love you. |

Start off by downloading Valve's "Hammer Editor". You have to have the latest version of half-life as well (not shure if it works with the steam download or not). When you get in there, there are a number of settings you gotta input, and it's a good idea to download "Zoner's tools". I suggest finding a tutorial onilne to help you with setting it up. There's a number of flaming hoops you gotta jump through, but after you get it set up, you'll be peachy. Anyone have some links to anything above? |

steam is in no way affiliated with the map editor.. you just have to set up the directorys.. if you dont know it. dont advise it |

Carni, I ment I didn't know if you could set up the directories for the map editor using the version of Half-Life downloaded from steam. Downloading HL from steam is 90% easier than finding an update to an older version. |

you can set directories to any folder.. the program is in no way responsible for anything.. it creates a .bsp.. and you can move it anywhere.. stop confusing our young friend |

Don't double post, please. You do need the new SDK, however, to use those maps in the game. Having a latest Hammer editor on an aged engine doesn't necessarily mean you will have the same experience, apparently. -- "He who fights with monsters might take care lest he thereby become a monster." |
