Hello everyone, I just joined this forum, and am hoping for your support in a project to crowdfund the (very first) book of video game writing case studies by (and for) video game writers. Or for anyone interested in storytelling in games, really. There are dozens of books about the theory of writing for video games out there, but not a single one that deals with the actual ins and outs of how the work was done on any particular game. I hope this to be such a book. So far, the writers who have agreed to contribute are:
It's important to note that the digital version of the book will be available for free to anyone who's interested in video game writing, and that we will make it regardless of whether we meet our funding goals or not, it's just that it's going to take a bit longer and I'll have to compromise on things like layout, cover art, and printing quality. I'm still reaching out to writers, the majority of whom seem to be very happy about the idea ... actually, I find it a bit strange that nobody had done anything like this before, because that's exactly the sort of book that I (and, I'm sure, many others) would like to read. This is the link to the IndieGoGo campaign: Video Game Writing by Video Game Writers If that sounds interesting, please consider supporting us ... even just spreading the word about it would be of great help. I'm quite new to the forums, and so hope that I'm posting this in the right place. If not, please don't hesitate to let me know! Cheers, UPDATE 05/15/2016 Hey everyone, Just a short update. More writers joined the project. The games that the writers will talk about writing (as of May 15, 2016) are:
Writer names:
There's only 15 days left to help fund this (if you'd like a softcover copy, or just would like to help, for example). The e-book version will be available to everyone for free, though if you like the idea, please help to spread the word about Video Game Writing by Video Game Writers. :) Peace, Edited by: WordCowboy |
