Its good though, they will make the Doom 3 engine handle bigger areas better w00t

Not like Half-Life itself could handle any big area at all. Valve's braindead when it comes to OpenGL programming. They've tried hundreds of ways to make it "optimized" but it hasn't really happened, they never thought of multitextured tiles for the subdivision along planes can be dropped.

And of course by release time the engine will be able to do better lighting (more accurate dynamic stuff, soft shadows etc.) and PCs will be able to handle it. When you see a shadow move just before a gargantua jumps out at you - scary

Doom 3 already has soft shadows.

more accurate dynamic stuff then. Reflections, refractions, bounce, ray tracing and all the rest of the stuff.

Dammit, the way things are goin atm, i won't be able to play ut2k3 for about 10 years let alone considering playing hl2 on a sooped up d3 engine... dam my lack of computer upgrades funding
