Valve Hammer Editor and Quake1 Thread

I really like VHE and hate Worldcraft 1.6, its very buggy and hard to deal with most of the time. I realize there is other map editors out there for quake1, but is it possible to setup Valve Hammer Editor to be able to map for quake?

HL maps are probably compiled alot differently than Quake maps, so if Valve CAN be configured to make working Quake maps but cant compile them, is there any seperate compiling programs for Quake?

No way in heck is Valve going to be compatible with Q1. Pay them a billion and they won't do it.

Find Worldcraft 1.1a. It's the best. Worldcraft. Ever.
And oh, they complile the same way, just port the map over with QuArK or something.

You can easily use valve hammer editor to maps maps for Quake!
You need to use the 'Qonverge' tools by Riot... they let you make quake maps in later versions of Worldcraft (3.x/Hammer) or in Radiant.

ive been using it for about a year and its caused me no problems at all. I don't know how any mapper would prefer older versions of worldcraft, especially versions older than 1.6! Hammer has got great texture alignment capabilities, and its rotational texture lock works a treat Plus the 3d view hardware acceleration actually works, and the program doesn't crash....
