Hello!

This is my first forum post on IndieDB, so please be gentle. I'm hoping for some advice and critique on my 3D assets. The attached image shows models that have been up-resed from extremely low poly meshes. As you can see they've gone through quite a transformation from the original assets but are still quite low resolution. Its worth noting the meshes and textures are both works in progress.

As with many prototypes and concepts our game has evolved over time and I now feel that these assets are no longer at a quality that reflects the target concept. Secondly, the cars are now required to be upgraded between races from traditional hotrod style cars up-to rocket cars. My current brief is to design elements in such away that makes each upgrade visually obvious.

My feeling is that for this to be achieved properly the cars must be rebuilt from scratch. I feel tha simply throwing more polys at the meshes will not resolve the slighty "muddy" feel the geometry currently has. However a full redesign would be time consuming and would preferably be avoided.

Obviously design school 101 (panning, planning, planning) has been totally missed here however any advice, constructive critique, suggested reference or general comments would greatly be appreciated.

Cheers,

Si
