Hello. As mentioned before from me, im workin on a mod that is being done as a tribute to one of the greatest games ever, Dungeon Keeper. However, i would like your opinion on wheither this could violate copywrites or not. The models are mine, artwork mine, skins mine, sounds mine, name has even been changed so thats legal, the only thing in question is the mod itself. Could i get in trouble for using monsters of the same name and design as DK? I looked at all copywrite info, never saw anything about it, but still i would like to know wot you all think.. Thanks! |

Im not sure, but i think your best bet would be to either contact a lawyer or the company that holds the rights to that name. -- I want to make a mod like counter-strike but with more guns ,3 teams (maybe),and better gfx !!, |

I did.... 6 damn times! they refered me elsewhere 3 times, then the other 3 they just flat ignored me! That gets me so mad too, that they cant take me seriously with this... I contacted copywrite, then sent me a bunch of addresses, only relevant ones were technical support and piracy.. i e-mailed piracy twice, ignored, technical help, refered to suggestions, did suggestions twice, ignored.. Sooo, i jsut need to know, can they take action for using their creature designs? Not models, just the look.. |

Just scrap Dungeon Keeper and make your own concept and settings. Have them eat elves. -- < insert subject games here >

NO way thats gonna happen.. I LOVE Dungeon Keeper, and i'll do anything to see it played on the net and popular, even if it IS an imitation... Theres no way im scraping this unless EA shuts me down, im just makin sure how safe i am from em.. Actually, i plan to carry this out too.. Im going to make DKM, then Minions of Darkshadow (i think my modeler will do well on that too), then DKM2, and DKM 3! Im giong to carry on where EA foolishly left off! BTW, refer to it is Dungeon Keeper Mod (DKM) casue that way the name IS different, and EA cant bug me about that one.. - Edited By dEaThMaStEr On Mon 17th, Nov 2003 @ 4:00:57pm |

If you copy and they dont like it, and decide to shut you down. Your screwed. However, if you change the names of each monster slightly and then model them slightly differently, all they can do is say "But, but, but your honor, the names and monsters are really, really, really similar!" Whichis to say, they cant do s**t. By choosing to try to get a license your just making your life hard, adn in the end, they will either say "yes" and burden you with a crapload of legal papers, or say "no" in which case your back at square one. Unless your a maschocist I would suggest you change the names and models. |

hmmm... well, the idea is for this is be based on dungeon keeper in every aspect... hmmm.... this sux.. Well, i'll see wot happened.. i mean, its not like they'll sue me right off the bat! Hell, doubt they'll do anything at all! In a way this is good for them cause it gives good publicity about one of their games.. |
