The Da Vinci Code Thread

I have been reading the book for the past two days and have found it quite intresting, the idea that da vinci left secret messanges within his artowrks is one that fasinates me, more so is the what these codes or symbols may mean.

His painting of the last supper with 13 cups not one "Holy Grail", the inclusion of a women next to him instead of a fellow disciple making it 12men and 1 women at the last supper, the joining of the women (believed to be mary) and Jesus at the hip and so on.

What im wondering is what are you thoughts on his artowrks?
Are the symbols and messages really there?
Were they painted with no meaning at all and have been made to fit specific people opinion?

It's my understanding that the symbols in his work are indeed factual, but the story surrounding it is not. The Priory of Sion is mentioned in some historical works, though little is known about them. I've looked at the Last Supper and that certainly looks like Mary Magdelene and not a man, coupled with the pagan symbol for female that they make, it becomes very intriguing.

I thought the book was excellent. If you want an even better story, (yes it gets better), after you're done with that read Angels & Demons. It is the first story about Robert Langdon, which takes place a year prior to Da Vinci Code. It is my favorite of the two, but I recommend DVC first.

There was one book i read called choke where the guys mom is convinced hes jesus. She said he was cloned from a pice of jesus foreskin.

I read a book called Choke, but it wasn't about that. Who wrote the one you read?

Thats not the main thing in it. The story is about how he goes to resturants chokes on food then gives the people who saved him a sob story. Then since they "saved" him they feel responsabile for him and send him money. Hes done it so much he gets money from hundreds of people. While another story line is about him being a sexaholic. A really great read by a great author. His name is CHUCK PALAHNIUK.

Ah yes, that's the same book I'm reading. So far his mom thinks he is her attorney, not Jesus. But that's ok, I'm not that far into the story yet. Chuck Palahniuk is my favorite modern writer, by far. His work is so unique and brutal. You should also read Lullaby (my favorite of his), Survivor, and Fight Club. The movie of Fight Club is the best adaptation of a book I've ever seen on film. Many of the scenes were taken word-for-word from the novel, and it's identical to the descriptions Palahniuk used. He has two other books, Invisible Monsters and Diary, but I haven't read them yet.

Awesome book. Its sorta like the Bible Code, except within Da Vinci's Artwork. They are both something to really look into.

I'm reading the Da Vinci Code, don't spoil it! I got interested in it when my mum, aunty and cousin where talking about all these conspiracy theorys and stuff.

Most likely there is some symbols and secret meanings in his art and on everyone else's art. I do it all the time when I do art, so why wouldn't he do it. I don't think he's some mindless brick who got a brush.
