(Searched for similar topic, no luck.)

Autumn 2003: EA fucked up the NFS series.
Autumn 2004: The above times 10.
Autumn 2005: NFS series declared dead by yours truly.

After that, a long period of mourning, for the once so great racing series had succumbed to the awful world of... Urban.
But there was light, HDR light coming from the last place I would look.

Eden Games & Atari present,

Test Drive Unlimited

I never really liked the TD series, they were always trying to be like NFS and they failed horribly by each installment.
But with Unlimited, my game-sense kicks in. I just know, this is going to blow everyone away.
Ofcourse I am a carnut, so that counts as well. But the whole feel is there. It's about the cars, just like the classic NFS-games.
It's about 500 BHP burning rubber on the most realistic asphalt the world has ever known.

Ofcourse I'm still waiting to see what's going to happen.
It could suck serious cock after all.

But I still have a good feeling about it.
Anyone else with the same opinion, or the exact opposite?

I haven't found anything bad about the EA-ized NFS series, except for the fact that they wanna "appeal to da urbanized market! Yo dawg, let'z put in some "rapper" music with "urbane" lyrics from the likes of "Snoop Dawg" "Fiddy Cent" and other "rapper artists"."

Which is why I praise Microsoft for letting me disable their crappy music and replacing it with good stuff like Queen, and Journey, and other assorted music genre artists.

More like the versa. Test Drive basically pioneered the sports car driving genre way before Need for Speed even existed.

I like the sound of the online aspect of the game.

I haven't played any of the old Test Drive games, are hey more arcade-y like Burnout and Ridge Racer or a realistic racer like Gran Tourismo and Project Gothem?

Yes they were first, but then NFS came and they pretty much blew the series away. Then TD tried to follow.
EA made sure NFS went downhill, and TD is back from the dead for the final strike.

And it would seem that this is going to be the racing game of the year.
More than 100 cars and bikes, aftermarket parts that don't turn your Vanquish in a Celica gone haywire, graphics to make you horny.

Though I am curious what EA will spit out this year, it's going to be the 10th NFS. That means NFSX...
I can see the advertising campaign already... and it doesn't look good.

A Test Drive Unlimited demo has been released on on the XBOX360. It's ok at this state. It's not very stable at the moment, and the driving physics aren't quite what I like.

Plus the demo cuts out after fifteen minutes
