Only die-hard fans would pay, and not much at that. I think i remember a moderator telling me that moddb gets free hosting, but im probably wrong. moddb has crappy hosting and should switch to something better like 1and1. i just got really of topic with what i was trying to say...

Also, i dont think your allowed to tell people to click on your ads. For companies like Sedo, they say that if you click on your own ads, or tell other people to, then they ban your account and you dont get paid :O.

Oh well, im going to go click on moddb ads for about 5 minutes now...

update: n/m all i keep getting is that FPS mouse ad whenever i refresh

- moddb IS hosted for free, after all Greg (CEO of Oktagone) is a buddy of INtense!.

- Look who's talking, Mr. FreeWebs.

haha

also, another suggestion. What about when you post again in a thread where you have the last post it adds to the bottom of it, like PHL Forums. That would prevent a lot of n00bs posting mindless bumps.

In order:

modDB is hosted by Oktagone on its own dedicated box, sat on a nice chunky pipeline. It is not run out of a bedroom somewhere, nor is it likely to be affected by minor issues such as lack of ability to use and construct sites outside of FreeWebs.

All ads are run by modDB (excepting the google ones), so we can actually tell people to do what we like. We don't run a pay-per-click system, you pay for impressions.

Your damn lucky Greg didn't see that. The hosting is brill, just the other week it hit a hitch, all hosting companies do at some point.

ouch that hurts . i already mentioned in my profile that all those freewebs sites for mods were only temp. untill i registered a seperate domain for them. also, if im mr. freewebs, then why do i have 4 domains hosted by 1and1? oh and 1and1 has never crashed before for me either.

Oktagone didn't crash, it moved servers. Big difference.

although it did leave a lot of people in the dark and according to multiple people they were blatantly lied to even in the agreement of uptime. But who am I to judge?

Yes, the 10 days outage was quite offputting (and some people aren't back online yet), oh well.

modDB is like the biggest site hosted though, so it kinda got some extra priority.
