Hey there! Welcome to our recruitment thread for Stolendale! Stolendale is a game I've been envisioning for about two months now. We have an extensive Game Design Document for developers and illustrators to develop from, and are also looking for composers. Here's a bit about the game.

Following the abrupt invasion of a group called The New Hope, a mass extinction of all human-like life has taken effect using an alternated strain of Vampirism creating fast, strong and intelligent zombies with the goal of annihilation. Throughout the entire fight, they will slowly converge on the entirety of the area until they finally overrun Aeiros, forcing the remaining survivors to the new location across seas to find another race similar to themselves and their enemies.

“Aeiros is in a state of utter panic, an unknown group of warlords calling themselves ‘The New Hope’ have destroyed around 2/3rd’s of Aeiros, their land turning to a foul black marsh with nothing where the only light is fire through the thick smoke. They have covered their entrance so we cannot mount an attack head on, luckily that means they can’t either. We’re running out of time and unless we begin to move quickly, we will soon resemble our fallen brothers and sisters. Found many decades ago, an artifact we call Stolendale- it has the ability to create an Einstein-Rosen bridge, coined the term after writing was found amongst the artifact. Due to the natural danger of exploring the new lands, we have kept it a secret for now. We ask for you and your team to begin investigating these realms to see what you can find! Weapons, armor, allies! Anything that can help us win this war!”

Brief Rundown

  • Aeiros is in a state of true annihilation, a force known as The New Hope has decimated 2/3rd’s of the entire region. Those landscapes becoming black marshes consumed of fire and devoid of normal life, there will be a further expansion on why this place is so dangerous.
  • Your team, a former infantry unit of the Aeirosian Defence Initiative has been let into the secrets of Project: Stolendale. A stone artifact with a number of engravings which can create an Einstein-Rosen bridge (A wormhole) to a number of different places, all inhabitable by human life and a whole other directive of species. ;)
  • Time is clearly running out, they’re suggesting that The New Hope cannot mount a full scale attack on the remaining forces of Aeiros and therefore time is of the essence. From an Out-Of-Character view, we should build a contingency for new players to be able to join to avoid a bad reputation as the newer generation swarm the community when we get fame.

World one is based on a slightly altered principle of this story: Instead of The New Hope fighting above ground, they opened a wormhole to an alternate dimension, Castano, and began the fight below ground.

The year is 1909. Several genetic misfits have altered the way the world has developed, and therefore technology has advanced to an extent unseen to mankind at the time. Airships roam above the street, and eyepieces have been invented that have been helping treat mentally ill patients by calming their mind. Despite all of the creations and inventions this sudden scientific era has sparked, the OMU has cracked down on inventions that betray the policy of the OMU, the same policy that put an end to the rioting to the American government in 1869. One of the inventions was a genetically engineered teleporter that took all of the particles in a block of matter and blasted it at a very high speed to their location, rematerializing the form of matter at their destined location. The OMU has decided that this defies their policy and can be used in an attempt to overthrow the government. In an attempt to raid the lab, they found several odd markings on the equipment. Shrugging this off, they packaged it and put it in a high security vault in the OMU lab in Aeiros. What they didn't relaize is that they just signed their own death warrant, and a team of scientists and mobsters called The New Hope was about to deliver swift justice. The New Hope broke into the vault not even three days later, completely eliminating any employee or staff that worked there. They stole back the teleporter, and left a message.

"By midnight tomorrow evening, Aeiros will fall. There is nothing you can do to take it back. Either leave or suffer the justice we will to bring to you. This is your final warning."

so let me sum this up:

-you are looking for people who work pro-bono, so for free for you?

-those people have to pay for their own licenscees, software and hardwarde

-the royalties are on splitting a not defined "profit" (as you might claim the costs to be equal to the revenue)

-the game will very probably never be finished so no revenue at all

...good luck finding such people working for you.

Well, that's rather bleak joedoe99, heh. It's normal for indies to ask for rev-sharing, they obviously want to sign a contract, which should protect both sides, and it's there you should look at the profit margins, etc.

Also most indie's starting out asking for the people working for them to 'pay' for their own licenses, usually meaning they already have the proper licenses to work, not that they'll have to buy new ones.

And they're not really asking for free work, though they worded it that way, but rev-sharing. It's silly to assume the game won't be finished. Yes, that's the norm, and I believe it has become more so because of this kind of negativity we put towards a game we feel is 'too large.' We've seen these kinds of 'too large' games start on steam as alpha's (and still remain alpha's lol), so just because a game is large in scope doesn't mean there can't be a plan in place to make money towards the beginning of its production.
