I Wanna See A Actual SST Mod be made and actual be released...I have been thinking of this for a good while now...You All start out on that building in the desert and u have about 20 secs to buy weapons and man turrets before they all try and attack you...There would be multiple Maps to play on...over 10+ Species and So Many Weapons you will piss your pants on what weapon you should chose And Just To Think that HL2 is about to come out...and we get a jump start at this mod....then we HL2 comes out we can use the SDK and make a KICK-@$$ freakin mod..with the ragdoll effect of the aliens grabing them in there mouth and ripping to pieces or of them stacking on top of each other to get inside the building...the actions would be limitless on what we could achieve........sooo...Whos in ?

and what will you do on this mod? let me guess you're the ideas person right?

Im A Mapper...I Can make the Maps ....and when HL2 SDK comes out i can Make Maps with Enviromental Effects like the hl2 creaters do..with boxes that can be used as traps for a short time period or squash them if u drop them on it. Also Many other effects can Happen..Ragdoll...Anything...even make it Rain And Flood.

Jun 7 2004 Anchor

HL2 won't come out in a long while...

Jun 7 2004 Anchor

3 Months...It Will take us Longer than that to get a Build Ready

Jun 7 2004 Anchor

don't be surprised if it doesn't make the september release date..just wait til the game is released before even planning a HL2 mod

Jun 7 2004 Anchor

No we have to have a Build Ready then Just Update the little stuff...it will be Much Easy as i See many other mods i have joined doing the same...we can just get a hl 1 build ready and then just port it to HL2 and update instead of building it from stracth with hl2 <--harder trust me i know

Jun 7 2004 Anchor

making a build of HL1 is hard enough...

Jun 7 2004 Anchor

Exactly...think of how confusing it would be with hl2 to make a mod from scratch!...thats why we need to start now....now...is there anything u can do to help me ?

Jun 7 2004 Anchor

Yeah, i can do something to help you...

Thewavelength.net

i bet you dont even know how to set up a mod folder in your HL directory. And why would anyone help you? you cant do anything to help them back, so they might as well start a mod by themselves.

Dude, all of you guys are treating this guy like crap. There are over 300 mods being made with the Half-Life 2 engine. It definitely does not hurt to start planning a mod for Half-Life 2. Usually, the planning stage is one of the longest parts of the development process. Plus, it's not like HL2 will never be released.

The most idiotic thing you could do is wait until the game was released to start the process, because you won't be able to make any headway through the hundreds of other games that will be made using the SDK. SSChris, you have no fucking room to talk, since you aren't even involved in any mods on this site currently, so stop acting like a smart ass.

EDIT: Besides, there went plenty of people setting up mods for Unreal Tournament 2004, Doom 3, Farcry, Stalker.....all before they even came out. This is called smart thinking.

And by the way, Bart, apparently, he didn't make a thread like this, since all it says is StarShip Troops. If there is some thread that I am not aware of, then I apologize for that :|

You can only model today, and nothing more for the hl2 engine, and thats why i think that 99% of the hl2 mods are going to die before the SDK release...

and btw: why everybody wants only hl2, hl2 and hl2? there are many already released games which were tested and are known to be reliable :P

edit: doublepost. crap. :P

Yea...what Karuto Said.....BartNowciu....you big meanie !

Jun 7 2004 Anchor

You can do a hell of a lot more than model. All you need HL2 for is the coding and mapping part. You can model, skin, texture, do concept work, sound work, animation..... It's not like you're completely hindered when you don't have the game.

Jun 7 2004 Anchor

youve got NO real hl2 coders, you've got nobody that is really familiar with the hl2 sourcecode, and you will not have them for a long time after the release...

Jun 7 2004 Anchor

Maybe i do have someone whos a real hl2 coder....
