Hello, I'm the coder for the single player mod In Development, and I could use another coder to help me out.

Currently, we have 3 different types of coding that need to be done: Weapons, NPCs, and Entities (which, oddly enough, is most of source coding in general).

Recently, I've been having problems maintaining the coding of all three parts as well as maintaining my real life needs, and so I believe
another coder would help immensely with the progress of the mod. If you were to join, your main role will be handling the coding for NPCs, and then possibly a few weapons. You and I would discuss what code needs to be completed first, and then divide the work evenly between us. If a particular piece of code become too tough for one of us, we would both tackle the situation, tossing pseudocode at each other until we solve the solution. In summation, we would share the work evenly and work together if necessary.
The requirements for this position are:

  • Visual Studio 2008
  • Half Life 2: Episode 2 (which gives you access to the Source SDK)
  • Experience in a formal coding language (Java, C#, C++, etc.)

Additional skills that would be beneficial are:

  • Knowledge in using FTP and Tortoise SVN
  • Experience in C++
  • Experience in NPC coding

Here is some basic information on the mod:
In Development is a Single Player mod in which you journey through a game developer's mind. You can use Debug weapons, which are coding utilities in weapon form, to help you fight off the Dements, the physical manifestation of the disease that plagues the game developer's mind. In the journey, you will see the game developer's game concepts as well as his deepest nightmares.
We are also developing a Cinematic System along with the mod, which will give players new ways to experience a cutscene. The system will allow the mapper to control the player's view, movement, and hand animations in order to provide a cinematic flair to their mod. This system will be available to all modders once it has reached a stable point in it's development.

If interested in applying, send me a PM, post a application on our forums, or send me an email at bluefire40(at)hotmail(d0t)com. Be ready for an interview and a small but simple coding test.

Thanks,
Nick / Bluefire
