RPG game engines Thread

I am pretty new and am not sure if this has been discussed elsewhere but I read on the official website that RPG Maker VX does not support 64 bit Operating Systems meaning that pretty soon it will be outdated. What are some alternatives to RPG Maker VX? What other engines are out there? I am currently making an RPG and planned on using RPG Maker VX but if the final product won't be playable on Windows 7 and up what is the point? What alternatives are there?

32-bit software will still be usable on a 64-bit operating system.
