Does 3DSMax allow to save models in mdl. format for Quake I?

You can try exporting it to .3ds format, use Q2MDLR (aka MDL) to import the 3ds file, and you can animate from there, save as MD2, then finally going into Quark6 and converting the MD2 to MDL.

Wouldn't 3DSMax be too advanced for low poly models in Quake?
