Here's some pics I found for Quake 4: Looks like a wicked game to mod, that's for sure. BTW, don't just say you saw these already, because this is mainly for those who haven't. EDIT: Oh, by the way, for those speculating; Yes, Q4 is going to use the D3 engine - Edited By Karuto On Thu 26th, Aug 2004 @ 10:28:59am - Edited By Karuto On Thu 26th, Aug 2004 @ 10:29:25am i have been told that these pics are illegal so they have been removed - Edited By hammy-bob On Fri 27th, Aug 2004 @ 1:02:48am -- "He who fights with monsters might take care lest he thereby become a monster." |

so old good looking but i dont think that this amount of polys is needed to make an uber looking model (see unreal 3) -- |
||
Aug 26 2004 Anchor | ||
Yeah, too bad the Unreal 3 engine is slated to release 2 years from now with brand new technology that's still being developed Do what you can right now, is what they're doing. Oh, and I also said not to even say if these are old or you've already seen them. This is for those who haven't - Edited By Karuto On Thu 26th, Aug 2004 @ 10:50:44am -- "He who fights with monsters might take care lest he thereby become a monster." |

It's called normal mapping, models that high poly won't be used ingame. |
||
Aug 26 2004 Anchor | ||
errm... allama i know about it -- |
||
Aug 26 2004 Anchor | ||
Awesome !!!. |

Aug 26 2004 Anchor | |
Very VERY nice did they say why they werent going to make there own engine. DIII is fine but they could make one. |
||
Aug 26 2004 Anchor | ||
Won't it be optimized, with lower poly models or something (more bump mapping?) so that there will be more than 4 players? Otherwise it could be a major letdown. |
||

Ok, I just read that someone said it was using the D3 engine, but I'm not sure. I'd have to read up on that to be certain. -- "He who fights with monsters might take care lest he thereby become a monster." |

Well it defiantly looks D3. |

Aug 26 2004 Anchor | ||
Ok, just found out it will. It's being created by Raven Studios -- "He who fights with monsters might take care lest he thereby become a monster." |

I thought ID software would do quake 4? or am I getting soethng wrong here -- Nothing. |
||
Aug 26 2004 Anchor | ||
They licened it out to Raven for some reason (Doom III and that other game.) |
||
Aug 26 2004 Anchor | ||
Nope. id is focusing on a whole new license. Raven will be doing Quake 4. I found this site: Eurogamer.net . It talks about the interview Todd Hollenshead had with G4 about the sequel to RTCW being in development. It's going to be most likely on the shoulders of Splash Damage (did Enemy Territory and MP maps for Doom 3). That'd be interesting to see what they come up with -- "He who fights with monsters might take care lest he thereby become a monster." |

AHEM, those 3d screenies are illegal leaked shots by a newbie who cheated on his portfolio to get hired into Raven (then fired) just to leak what they have. If they were official, you'd see them on Gamespot and other game news sources, but as they arent.... Remove them now. Or we'll do it by force. Oh, and Raven Software sounds new to you? I've known them since they started with Shadowcaster. - Edited By CheapAlert On Fri 27th, Aug 2004 @ 12:53:22am -- < insert subject games here >

ok, who didnt know quake 4 was being raven developed? its been common knowledge for about 2 years :-) but im with cheapy, hes always right, they should probly be removed |
||
|
Aug 27 2004 Anchor | |
Cheapy, the first one wasn't leaked. I know that for a fact. Even if it was, it mustn't be illegal because PC PowerPlay featured the image in an issue for QuakeCon 2002 or 2003.
There. Proof that the first one wasn't leaked. It is on Gamespot. --

They could've at least kept the first image on, like frosteh stated, but I guess it goes past them. I seem to remember plenty of people here posting links to Half-Life 2 leaked beta, if not show them completely. I don't see what's the harm in showing some pictures. What are they going to do, cry about it? -- "He who fights with monsters might take care lest he thereby become a monster." |

Of course the concept isn't leaked but I know the renders are.
And we nuked those HL2 pics after we got a C&D order, last year. Scott, Bigbird and I did the cleanup job. The content isn't yours and it's indeedily unauthorized, law breaking, etc. - Edited By CheapAlert On Fri 27th, Aug 2004 @ 2:14:54pm -- < insert subject games here >
