Every good website has something in common. They have some way of getting people involved. Moddb has done this in the past. They have awards, contests, prizes etc... They have forums with knowledgeable people, and maintain a good standing as a cool website in most people's minds. However, I noticed the drastic difference of people on this site and Moddb. There are more members on Moddb than there are people here. I think something needs to be done on Moddb such as announcing an Addondb contest that we have here, to get people comming over here. I don't think a lot of people have even noticed Addondb yet. Theres a new tab up top and a link under affiliates. I know that this community will grow over time, but i think something should be done to jumpstart it.

Now for the hard part.

Ideas?

Kinda early to raise this issue already no? Just wait awhile. modDB wasn't popular in the first week either.

Yah, but that's why I said it will grow over time. I was just thinking that if fans of moddb would donate a little, then we could definitely help this community out. I was thinking a competition would pretty much serve as an advertisement, no? Especially when its on a modding site

Mod DB took over a year too grow. The real issue is, for a site like this to be really good we need a critical mass of addons for it to be useful. As people add them - gradually we will hit that critical mass.

The one thing that is tough, is that we have entered this space a little late. I mean Q3, UT, CS already have established addon sites... so what we need is a new game which it is popular to make addons for. Then the site will undoubtedly grow significantly - as ppl use addondb to list their work.

Rest assured we will be running big compeitions to jump start things in the new year once the MOTY comp is done. Oh and keep adding your addons :)

Yeah, the problem is, the forums aren't used much so the people won't come back as much.
