Newb Question Regarding XSI Thread

So I am trying to follow the first few free noesis interactive videos, and right now I am on the time bomb one. I have gotten all the way up to the applying texture to the keypad. In the tutorial they apply the texture to the keypad, and then they right click on the keypad (in user view) to bring up a menu of some sort. My problem is that when I rigth-click on said object it just de-selects. No menu is brought up....this is leading to much confusion . I tried scowering a few forums but noone else seems to be as incompitnent as me in the fine art of right-clicking. THANKS IN ADVANCE FOR THE HELP
