Need I comment? The release of a game powered by this engine will truly mark the onset of a new era of gaming. |

Well, after a given amount of time, they bump up the graphics quality and requirements. Force everyone to upgrade. Just an ongoing cycle, but it sure as hell looks sweet |

Well, I found the time to download the four Unreal 3 videos, and I have to say, it looks mighty impressive. I liked the look of the monsters when they're on-screen. However, what I loved was the lighting and particle effects. Those were especially stunning, including during (I believe) the first trailer, when that machine kicked on and smoke and yellow particles flew everywhere. It was really nice -- "He who fights with monsters might take care lest he thereby become a monster." |

I don't see Doom 3 and HL2 the same way again. |

It looks like shit just because you've saw parallax mapping, soft shadows and some miscellaneous shader effects in there? -- |

Kakulin sounds like a guy who seriously considers graphics to be the most important part of gaming. How do you talking about these things like you already know what's going on? You don't know how much the Xbox360 will cost, it's obvious that Unreal 3.0 is going to be used in next-gen consoles (BioWare has licensed it already for an RPG), and I'm pretty sure that Doom 3 and Half-Life 2 are both still going to live on in the PC gaming world. I'm not saying Doom 3's graphics really sway me, but to be honest, it doesn't look like shit, despite the popularity surrounding it died off several months ago. That's what engine modifications are for. No one would be using the Quake 1 engine to make mods unless it had gone open-source and someone had made Darkplaces, along with several other technical innovations. I just don't like the way you talk, Kalukin. -- "He who fights with monsters might take care lest he thereby become a monster." |
