Hi, There is currently a kickstarter campaign
running with (search for 'spriter' via kickstart)the aim of creating a professional quality 2D animating
tool. Compatability with game authoring software such as Unity and
torque 2D is being worked on by 3rd parties.Support for mac osx and other platforms is planned. The goal is to raise 25,000
dollars. Michael V. Parent, one of the makers is a professional 2D
artist who worked on Thor, the nintendo DS game. He is also a member of
team Natami who are creating the Natami, Native amiga computer system.

And whats wrong with photoshop?
You have full 2d animation support there.

EDIT:
Found it on google now. Seems that spriter has quite some exceptional features. Separation of assets and anim data for exampe, neat...
I just dont get it. A tool like spriter should get everyone's eyebrows raised - how come there is no investor behind it?

I think that there's some restriction on newly created accounts here at ModDB/IndieDB - appearently you have to wait X amount of days or do Y amounts of posts before you can post links.
