New HL Mod Thread

Hi guys. my team and i are working on a new comedy mod for half-life called "No-Life". It will be an awesome SP/MP romp through pop-culture and fart jokes! I dont have the site up yet so it wont be up on the site till tomorow anyway, its gonna be great.

Sorry bout that, i just wanted to prove i had that name first
(Im paranoid about my ideas) NE way, the whole point of the mod is to have fun. Although you play as "Morton Freedman" and work at a science lab called "White Plateau" it is not directly MAKING FUN of half-life (I love it way to much). It is basically just me and my friends tring to make the weapons, story and enemies as funny as possible. Like i mentioned before it will be like AIRPLANE! on your PC.

Some of the jokes will be well thought out and cool. Subtle dark humor, you know? Then there will be a great deal of pc/game related jokes "All your base are belong to us!" and, after the accident, "I knew we shouldnt have been using windows 2000!". Finally, the majority of the jokes will be over-the-top rediculous jokes ("Oh dear, i seem to be stuck to the wall").

A large amount of the humor will be nonsensical or just plain stoopid. for example after the accident the textures will go significantly down in quality. Throughout the game there wil be (intentionally) horrible voice acting and plenty of random explosions. The headcrabs (Painted weird colors) will play random sound effects on attack (From horns to the occasional "NI!") and explode into confetti when they are hit. Also the barnacles will now be pinatas. OLE'!!!

The whole point of this mod is fun. The jokes are fun. The rediculous voices are fun. the over-the-top weapons and enemies both are fun. We hope to move a little farther than the average comedy mod. It will actually have a funny STORY. this is not one of those mods where all u get is a .wad file with a few funny skins or the occasional funny weapon. Judging by the new funny material, this one will be certainly interesting.....

I don't want to give toooo much away other than this but ,we hope, it will be a fun adventure well worth playing

#1: 'Morton Freedman' and 'White Plateau'? Simple reword/thesaurus tricks won't make people laugh.
#2: 'All your base are belong to us' died years ago. It now makes people fall into convulsions, like the even later 'Wazzup' "craze".
#3. Textures going down in quality? Stuff like that simply does not work, my friend. Humour might be obtained by extremely excessive damage to the levels, but not by starting to make textures in Paint.
#4. Random sound effects simply don't work. People will be looking and running around the whole map looking for a Black Knight while the headcrab eats them in the back.
#5. I am saying this for the good of your mod! Oh, and please no fart jokes!

Look,a lot of people have been overly critical of these ideas so far. you guys do know these are just concepts,right? However i am going to try my best not to mock YOU as i correct stuff u said. I am not one of those guys to respond to a corrective message "Thats....cause your st00pid!" or something like that.

1.Most of these will not see the final game. I just wanter to prove im not some w@nker noob who is going "My M()D will PWN!!!!" and not following up.

2.I thought u guys would be extatic of the opportunity for a true comedy mod. Noone else has changed the story completely to make it funny.

And now about the previous post....

1.The rewording is just for exposition. its not supposed to be funny. Well its not supposed to get a huge laugh at least. Just a "Oh i get it, heh" and a return to playing. You will see this on the no-life pic that will be on my listing when i post it that i renamed the publisher "Saharah" and the makers "VENT". See? Its not supposed to get you to laugh. Anyway, I could name him Vilhelm fasenbender for all i care. that was just to show u guys that i had at least a few ideas being thrown around. We plan to come up with some more stuff, and will probably change his name. You guys should kinda have thought "Wait a sec! oh...these are just placeholders! I get it."

2.What the......heck......do you mean "all your base" died out???? only in the mainstream,my friend. THE JOKES MENTIONED IN MY PREVIOUS POST WERE PLACE-HOLDERS!!!! WHY DONT YOU GUYS GET THAT THESE ARE NOT THE FINAL IDEAS!!! ONCE AGAIN I WANTED TO SHOW U I HAD SOME IDEAS AND WAS NOT SO MODNEWB!!!! "Wassup?", of course im gonna fit Wassup in there somewhere! The stuff i listed last night was just the stuff i could remember.

3.The textures will jokingly look like a 4-year old drew them but will not, i repeat WILL NOT, effect the quality of the game play. it is made to have fun, thats all. THe jokes, the guns, the battles...all just to be fun. Have you ever played Hammy bob? The characters will look a little like that, but (Althought he has a single player mode) the thing about alll the hammy mods are that they are just a few textures and some guns. Also You guys are thinking Waaaaaay to much into this. Its a comedy mod! A COMEDY MOD!!!!

4. You dont get it. It won't be the games origional sound effects! It will be new ones, all of which will be played once, ONCE, when it attacks. You going through some ducting and a headcrab jumps at you in the dark. Thats kinda scary. But if the headcrab screeches "NI!" when it flys at you it softens the blow at least a little.
Like i said befor the game is all in good fun, okay?

5. Now the fart jokes statement was a joke in itself. I was trying to spice up my first post (I had to go to bed and get off the computer) so i threw it "...romp through pop culture and fart jokes!" I though you guys would get it. I would NEVER EVER put fart jokes into HL! It just would be weird. I can't guarantee my level designers won't but ill talk to them. For the llove of GOD!!!! NO FART JOKES! I didn't like the idea either.

Once again im sorry for the low quality of my website, i just threw it together last night. It will get better. I mean, as of now, none of the buttons work because i havent made any of the other portions.
