New here - Help with mod download Thread

Hi Folks!

Pleased to write my first post!

I was trying to download and install the Shogun and east Asia mod on Knights of Honor, but I have to admit I am quite a zero in those things. So I wanted to ask if anyone could halp me with the basics of this.

I downloaded the file, that was ok, the I extracted it with 7-zip, but now I don't know what to do with that file. How do I get to play the mode now? For the only thing that comes when I open that file, are things like "voice" or "images" or "Maps".

I think at one point, my computer asked me if I wanted to replace some files, I guess those of the original game. Moron as I am, I said "no to all". Does that mean I can't download anything anymore?

You have to paste those folders (Images and others) to your main game directory of KoH, so for example to

Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\Knights of Honor

(straight to Knights of Honor directory/folder)

Hmm and that is odd. You should not have to overwrite anything as all game files are contained within PAK files and are not extracted.

Have you installed other mods as well or trying to install 2 mods? You should only install 1 mod or any compatible mods - as usually KoH relies on mutually/cross- overwriting and excluding mod files, it heavily depends on mods you want to install.

Yes, tha'ts exactly what I have tried to do: I have tried to download two mods at the same time: East Asia and Shogun mod. In the meantime I have deleted the Shogun one, and tried to put the East Asia one into the folder, as you say:

Program Files/Black Sea Studios/Knights of Honor

But there inside I have two folders additional to the icon on which you click to access the game: one that sais "packs" and another that sais "system". Which one should I put it into?

I actually do not have steam. Can I play this mod without having steam?

You just need to put those folders into Knights of Honor folder, not system/packs. ;-)

so paste all the content of the mod into

Program Files/Black Sea Studios/Knights of Honor

and the mod is installed. So in your game directory you should have only KoH folders + mod folders. The extracted mod folders/files in KoH directory will overwrite the data contained within PAK files.
