after playing around with blender for awhile i was able to make an AK-47. User Posted Image I don't really know how to control the lights.

You could try going into Object mode and hitting the Editing button, and check the number by "Decimator:" (it's counted in triangles, btw)

it says 1844 on mine. The max for HL2 is 3000 right? What about HL1?

the max HL1 can do is 4096 triangles on one material. To get around this for HL1 you must split sections of the model into seperate meshes.

Max for HL2 isn't really specified but the usual budget is 4000-5000 on characters, 8000 on REAL IMPORTANT characters (Alyx and Gman are the highest poly models in hl2), and about 1200 on a weapon.

Im sure ive seen a relatively low poly gordon model floating around in the SDK somewhere, it mightve been the info_player_start one though, if it was, my bad.

There's no Gordon in the SDK, just a combine and some rebles. Gordon wasn't ever modeled for HL2, they just recycled his older HL1 player model, and colored it black, mainly so he can't see his own reflection on reflective surfaces at any circumstance (they say having the player see himself or hearing the player interact kills immersion). It was also completely unanimated. Unsurprisingly, it's since been this way since the e3 alpha.
