Moddb Real Bout School Thread

Alright, I came up with this idea at the top of my head on the Moddb irc. Tell me what you guys think. And, if any modmakers are interested, it'd be real cool to see this thing get done ^_^

A mod based on Real Bout High School, the manga (Well, not based, just the same idea), where - you go to school, and there's these ranks. You have to brawl with these people of rank to gain areas of power. You turn from a nothing into a something, until you're king of the school, and you defend your title. You could have all these different styles of martial arts and basic fighting styles, like Jeet Kune Do, Karate, Wrestling, Muay Thai, Boxing, etc.

You go to school regularly, but you never ascend in the social ladder unless you fight a certain person. You start with D rank, and ascend into S rank, where, obviously, the strongest fighters are, and it'd be sort of a fantasy style, where they're almost superhuman with their abilities.

The characters can even be styled after the creators, or from people on Moddb, and have Intense, Fork, and Greg the strongest fighters in the school, and work your way down for their influence on the Moddb community. You could also toss in a bunch of relatively new people to Moddb for filler between gaining ranks. There could also be RPG elements, where you can increase your power, speed, skill, health, etc. Your character would start off with one of the selected fighting styles, and you can level up until you're the master of that style. This could also balance in the MP environment, since you're paying attention to their ranks and know whether or not you have a snowball's chance in hell of defeating them.

I think this sounds like a really fun idea, and it could work on practically any engine (perhaps UT 2k4 might work best), and the maps could just revolve around the school, in neighborhoods, and teenage hangout spots (Lover's Peak, movie theaters, arcade; things like that).

So, what do you guys think?

i think it would be a hell of a lot of effort for a big inside joke

but i like the idea, and without guns in it i dont think anyone can be offended

Replace the attributes with attributes such as "modelling", "mapping", "managing", and "writing", and you have yourself a nice mod

Good idea, would be interesting to play too.

Dude lol I posted almost the exact same thing except it wasnt @ school like last month and everyone hated it o well.... Well anyways just don't do anything with manga or anime and im down

its a ok idea.....would take u forever to make..so Id say on the idea scale id give it a 7 and the chance it will get made score Id give it a 1 1/2

I disagree with the chance score BW72, what makes you think of it like that? Its quite a possible scenario, easier than alot of mods out there I say.

Well, the thing with the manga of Real Bout High School is just the idea, or concept, if you will. It won't be based on that or anything, and the game would be lifelike.

And there wouldn't be a ginormous amount of fighting styles; just like 5 or 6. Plus, they'd be the popular ones, where there's someone out there that has at least learned them by heart (of course, Jeet Kune Do is an exception, but I'd love to meet someone who mastered that fighting style).

I don't care whoever takes it and uses it; Yun just wants some credit (lol). Of course, if you guys don't want to do it, then I guess this is just a mod idea for now. It wouldn't be difficult to make, but depending on how much quality you want, that would depend on how long you want to take on this project. Besides, it'd be for Moddb

I'd love to see something like that.
