I'm just wondering where the moddb staff stand on the fact that the "NonSteam Community Board" has been sitting on top of the HL2 topsite listing for a while now? This site focuses on how to play Valve games with out buying them, with direct links to warez torrents and hacks. |

The Dystopia team alerted me to this a few days ago, I have been looking into it and so far it seems that they're getting their desimation of hits by the rules... But I shall ocntinue looking in to this matter. Edited by: BigBird -- BigBird Mod DB Guy |

Not to reiterate but legality of how their obtaining votes may be almost less important than the fact that they are advertising warez and not to mention arent english speaking when all moddb users are depending on that pretty much. The site also has almost no replies to posts just single posts with many views and consists of members that all registered the same 3 months...almost like a random name generator. and the sites claim that the british flag button changes the language simply doesnt work Edited by: [DFC]Ronin |

[DFC]Ronin but we cannot be prejeduce towards others who may or may not speak the same language as the majority on the site. -- BigBird Mod DB Guy |

I'm sure there are ways to play steam games without steam. You just have to alter some files. Thats not illegal as long as you bought the game... |

Actually, If you read the EULA I think (from memory) you'll find the opposite is true. |

yeh as you;d be modifying valves interlectual property, which is a no no in this case (things like sdks are covered by a different eula) -- BigBird Mod DB Guy |

Dunno where modDBs servers are, but if they where in Sweden this wouldn't be a problem. As far as I have understood, here modDB can't be held responsible for what their users do. That's how the Piratebay goes around. What modDB's policy is I haven't looked into, though. Also, it would be kind of stupid of Valve to forbid their users to get their games working offline - since Steam sucks on that point (well, most points actually). Half the time you go on a LAN without Internet you get all sorts of errors becuase Steams offline-mod doesn't work properly. -- //toe - Moddb.com |
