I'm working on a video game that's basically a "sidescrolling bayonetta/mgr" in terms of gameplay, and it takes place across various caricaturizations of places of the world. I'm looking for a composer (or multiple composers) for the soundtrack.

There are around 12 stages, and each have three songs (first half, second half, and boss). There's also credits, cutscenes, title screen, etc. So that's kind of why I'm saying "multiple composers" and not just one, and the other reason for that is that I plan for each of the stages to have a different style of music (Miami is 80s, China is oriental mixed with strings, Japan is j-pop/anime, etc.).

I'm willing to pay about a dollar for every 10 seconds that isn't reused. (so a song that's mainly a verse/intro/chorus would be about $9-10).

Also, for reference, the stages are:

Stage 1 - San Francisco (normal)
Stage 2 - Las Vegas (desert/casino)
Stage 3 - Detroit (snow/factory)
Stage 4 - Miami (tropical/urban)
Stage 5 - Morocco (desert)
Stage 6 - Italy (but resembles a mix of Florence and Venice)
Stage 7 - Scandanavia (mountain/snow)
Stage 8 - Russia (snow/forest)
Stage 9 - China (oriental)
Stage 10 - Japan (future/jpop/animesque)
Stage 11 - Indo-China (tropical/jungle)
Stage 12 - Austrailia (volcano/desert)

I'm a freelancing composer who does a lot of different kind of music. Here are a bunch of different songs in different genres that might interest you:

70's junkie-organ-rock:

70/80-funk:

Electronic disco funk:

Orchestral epic:

Russian folk (It's a bit un-tight on purpose as it was made for a game about drunken russians):

Folk-flute (It's just a test recording I did when I got it, but you'll get the idea of what could be done):

Megaman-style rock with "real" synths and instruments

Irish folk-punk:

For more stuff, just check out my soundcloud page: Soundcloud.com.

I'm particularly interested in writing for the Morocco, Scandinavia, and Russia levels. I'd love for you to listen to the recordings I have on my Soundcloud: Soundcloud.com especially the Demo Reel, since it's a quick way to hear a bunch of selections.
I hope you take some time to listen, and I hope to hear from you soon!

Uhhhh...what? That isn't how this works.

Composers posting here - stick to your rates; don't cheapen yourself to this.

I work for free right now, plus paying that little surely he doesn't expect full rights. So I could sell a soundtrack if I work with him and the game does well.

It's not about working for free or not; it's about him saying he's only going to pay for each sections that isn't reused. So if you wrote a 12 bar blues for him he's only going to pay for one run through of each chord? It's such a dissecting and ridiculous way of doing things just to say him a few pennies.

Composers need to stop ruining their own craft.

Or, we could use serialism in our music and different types of counter point every 10 seconds and get ONE MILLION dollars. =P

Hi there!
That idea seems pretty cool.

I really love the fact that you are looking for a versatile and musically rich soundtrack.
That's totally right up my alley. Here's a few links of more energetic songs. Anime-style (Battle) :

Also another type of side-scroller/free runner video I did (including a cut-scene, a quick intro, and a "Running" theme)

I could also try to do a few other pieces specifically for your project if you don't already have them yet.

Let me know what you think! :)
