Hello, I am the manager of the new Indie game company FrozenTale Studios, where we are working on our first game: Iceblood. Development is hitting advanced stages, and I have come to a point where I decided that I don't want some random free music I can find on the internet, but I am not skilled in music myself. What I am looking for:
What I can offer:
Contact me on IndieDB or via gmail (lunaticraze@gmail.com), or add me on steam (Lunaticraze) if you are interested and/or would like more information.

Just because the game is freeware doesn't mean the composer should have to work for free. You don't want random free music from the internet so you obviously see the value in a soundtrack tailored specifically to your game. You are demanding someone to a) work with you on a professional basis b) produce high quality music c) do 4 months of unpaid work for a reference in their portfolio and the vague promise of future paid work. All I can say is, good luck. Edited by: Sonaeris |

Thank you for your opinion. I am a one man developer, and am admitting to not have the budget to pay an additional developer - thus I am here to see if there is someone who would LIKE to work with me. On a sidenote I do have to say that I am not demanding anyone to work here, I am simply announcing that I am looking for a development partner and hoping that there might be someone suitable for it. Unfortunately there are a lot of Indie developers with the same budget problems as me, so I do not clearly see the point of your response (because over 90% of indie devs work together for free), but again thank you for your opinion and wishing me luck. I am sure I will need it. Edited by: Lunaticraze |

What style of music are you looking for? Organic, electronic, ambient? Also, what would the estimated workload be and when would the composer start writing? As Sonaeris said, a full on 3-4 month project would be a tough job for no pay. |

I am not a big fan of the first one, but the second one is pretty nice. Good job for someone who's new to music production!
It's a fantasy game and I need the music as background tracks to underline the moods of the different scenes. I need inbetween 7 and 10 tracks of 3-5 minutes length to be created, in an ambient/medieval style. The composer would start writing whenever we agree on working together. It's an Indie game without pressure, so the composer can take his time for each of the tracks. |

As a composer, it's very easy to feel undervalued in the industry, especially because of stuff like this. For reference (assuming that the cost per minute was $150 - a very standard price for small projects) a soundtrack of 10 songs at 5 minutes long would cost $7500. Asking for that much work for free in any other industry would be considered an insult. I don't mean to sound rude, but I just thought I should say something. |

See people, I think it is about time you guys stop raging about this post and just ignore it if you have hard feelings. This is the INDIE scene and god knows how many people are looking for projects like this one to gather experience for their portfolio. If you want to get 7500 dollars for 10 soundtracks then you have to get up and look for a job in the professional industry. I'd appreciate it if people could stop ranting on about how unfair it is that I politely asked if there is someone who is willing to work with me on an unpaid basis. Thanks in advance. |

Sorry if I offended in any way, I honestly don't mean to stir any trouble or anything, I'm simply stating why it might be considered unreasonable to ask one person to do so much work. Perhaps you could ask several composers to submit one or two songs each, that way the work load is much more reasonable for an unpaid job and you'd be helping several people with their portfolios. Anyway, good luck finding people - I hope that advice could come in useful (and again, sorry if I caused any offence in my last post - it was completely unintentional, I assure) |

No harm done, mate. I appreciate your suggestion! Given I have received response from multiple people I would like to work with, I will likely end up with them sharing the work as well. I was a tad stressed when I wrote this because it was late at night and I was a little tired of people seeming offended at the simple question if there is someone who wants to work with me, so my last response wasn't too nice either |

So is the game going to be an online game that makes ad money? Or a download? |

For this sort of projects is what the free music is made for. If you can't pay the hard work of composers, you shouldn't ask for them. |
