k you got 2 computers k, get a network cable plug them into the pc's (You need a network card) and thats basicly it well with XP it detects it straight away and its all set up in seconds.. and you can usually see your game on the LAN list, whoever hosted :/ i dont think there is anymore to it than you needing a network card plus a network cable -- Nothing. |

Have an ethernet hub for all this. I remember trying to connect 2 computers directly with ethernet in 1996, and it didn't work - Edited By CheapAlert On Sun 27th, Jul 2003 @ 12:52:43pm -- < insert subject games here >

if you are only doing to computers, all you need is a crossover cable... if you try and plug them in with a reg cat5 cable, it wont work, has to be a crossover if its going straight from one to the other. after you get the cabling done, its rather easy to setup the lan itself... just make sure both comps have ipx/spx and tcp/ip protocols installed, and check under the indentification to make sure they both have the same workgroup listed... need any more help, talk to me over msn or somethin btw, with only two comps, there is no need for a hub... hubs are only useful if you are connecting more than two, or if you are sharing a broadband connection with them... if the latter is the case, then you would need a router, not just a hub - Edited By PsychoFarmer On Sun 27th, Jul 2003 @ 11:28:36am -- ___________________________
