Kill Bill Thread

Holy mother of god. I just watched this (on my comp) and it was the goddamn greatest thing I've seen all year. Better than Reloaded, better than anything.

My friend Larcen reviewed it at GTAF and said exactly how I feel, so allow me to quote him.

The movie started at 4:15, and Bonnie and I were running late. We finally entered the theatre at like 4:30 and I was pissed, totally sure that I'd have missed the first 5 minutes of "Kill Bill", vital missed exposition that would ruin the remainder of the movie. Once we walked in the door, teh 'feature presentation' shone on the screen and the gods smiled upon us. We took our seat and waited for the new Q movie to get underway.

And underway it got. With a bang. Kill Bill begins with The Bride's (Thurman) face in the shot, totally f*cked up, beaten within an inch of her life, with Bill (Carradine) talking to her. After telling Bill that the baby in her stomach is his, Bill shoots The Bride in the head.

Whoa.

Kill Bill is a classic revenge movie. The Bride is a part of a lethal team of assassins that assaults her on her wedding day, leaving her for dead. She survives, but is comaose. Four years afterward, she emerges from her coma and vows to kill every single person put her in that place. So then the vengance begins.

Kill Bill is the ultimate B-movie. Tons of cheesy dialogue, brilliantly coreagraphed fight sequences, fitting music, and a rapid pace sets the tone for the film. I'm guessing that half of the people that see it will laud the picture for its homage to so many films of history's past, and the style that is being emulated, which were basic influences of Tarantino. The other half will probably scratch their head and wonder why there was so much blood. Those who are cinema afficiandos will appreciate Kill Bill, and im sure those who are suckers for a good action film will like it nonetheless.

Uma Thurman is very, very good. I've always felt that she is an above average actress, but Thurman brought her A-game for Kill Bill. All of the characters are extremely enjoyable to watch, especially Lucy Liu. Liu plays (i totally forgot her name) but is the head of the Tokyo underworld. The scene when her questionable heritage is questioned is GOLDEN. I wont spoil it, but its a cut above the rest. Hee hee.

A neat aspect of Kill Bill is the way the story is told. Tarantino utilizes flashback quite frequently, as his style has dictated in the past, but also using split screens, neat fade tricks, shift from color to b&w, and even shifting backstory from live action to animation. its just a delight to watch, total eye candy.
The fight scenes are excellent. The restaurant fight sequence towards the end of the film conjure the Neo vs. Smiths from The Matrix Reloaded, but this fight scene is 7 times better. I can't explain how much work and care was put into the sequences. Totally over the top, but its in total B-movie spirit. I loved it.

Kill Bill was a great, great movie. I simply cant wait until Vol. 2 comes out. Tarantino (or maybe Miramax did) opted to slice the movie in two parts, an hour and a half each. I would've gladly sat another 90 mins because i was so enthralled with Kill Bill. Tarantino displays that he still has it, and the audiences should thank their lucky stars.

Final Verdict: **** out of **** (and i NEVER give 4 out of 4....ever! Kill Bill was tremendous. Watch it....now!)

I'm serious, it was amazing. Tarantino has raised the bar yet again, while still maintaining that B-movie atmosphere of not being big-budget. The story is simple enough, but so well told that you can't take your eyes off it. I can't wait for Volume 2, and I'll be the first person in line.

Really, you all have to see it ASAP, no excuses or second thoughts.

i was supposed to go see it today!!!! but my friend from san diego got caught in traffic, so we're gonna watch it tomorrow, i got Xbox Live too, so we were tooling around with that.

I will definitly come back here tomorrow to give my two cents on this great looking flick.

Ah yeah I really want to see this movie, I liked the looks of it just from the preview

JD please, you can't honestly tell me you think House of the Dead will be a good movie can you? It's such a shitty picture, omg. Anyone who has the chance to see a new Tarantino flick or some horrible teen slasher movie that's completely unrelated to the original House of the Dead - and chooses the latter - deserves to be shot. that has to be one of the greatest movies ever... it was hilarious, and beautiful, and GORY!!!!! i think the best scene has to be the water shots, in the final battle with lucy liu. thats was great ehh 40? the action scenes were brilliant, and it kept the same classic tarantino feel that has been in previous movies. this movie was great... go see it, if yuo don't you should be banned from this forum for not being 1337!!!!!

The anime sequence was the best thing on earth. I'm gonna go see this on the big screen hopefully in the next couple of days.

hell yeah it was, i don't really care for anime, but it was great. it was more artistic than anything, and i really appreciated it... The assasination part was spectacular. i still think that the whole chuck thing was really disturbing :/ lol
