Irish war of independace or easter rising Thread

for years i have wanted to see a game or a total conversion mod that covers the Irish War of Independence or the Easter Rising where i can fight to free Ireland from the english or even just a counter-strike like game set in that era (1916-1923) where it's Irish vs english. I don't have the skill to make one so I am posting my idea here. I think using the red orchestra engine would be easier since the buildings and scenery would be much the same.

I always thought this would be good but it may only appeals to a very niche market of people of Irish heritage who play video games. This of course is depending on how the idea is executed. I always thought a grand theft auto style game during the troubles would be good. An RTS would also by reallly cool becuase if you were the Irish your skills would be mainly ambushed based.

Given that this is still a very controversial area of history, which people still very very strongly about, anyone taking this on would have to be very careful and not afraid of a little controversy. Particularly if it's a shooter - the tabloid press are still very vocal when roused.

Are you thinking about a military sim, or something else? If so, what in particular about the period inspires you to make a game of it? Just curious

maybe a nice idea for a mod for RO2 or something.

Ya I agree with what you are saying and I think it would be hard not to offend anyone even if you are spot on with historical accuracy. I do believe controversy is something that entices people to explore a subject whether its a game, movie or book.

I would love to see anything from a counterstrike style mod to a single player adventure. The timeline i had in mind was 1916-1922. As for controversy who cares as long as the I.R.A. wins Ireland it's freedom. Erin go Bragh!! OUR DAY WILL COME!!!

I'm English or British (your choice) by birth but my heritage is nearly all Irish, I wouldn't mind seeing this happen as a game that said it is still very controversial to this day so you would have to be careful. It would be good as your attacks would be presumably ambushed based it would be a good single player game but as a Multiplayer I think it would be prone to frequent arguments.

I actually would like to see something like this I'm very used to all these new games and I think everyone could use something like this this is a very good idea in my opinion, others however might not agree.
