Indies VS Gamers jam

Hey devs, it's Paul Hack (@indiegamehunt) from Game Jolt. We're running another game jam and I want to invite everyone in the IndieDB community!

You will have 72 hours to make a game with a scoreboard using the Game Jolt API.

PewDiePie, Markiplier, and Jacksepticeye will be playing the top 5 games as voted by the community.

Gamers will compete for high scores in the winning games, with the best scores displayed on the jam homepage.

The jam runs from July 17-20 (12:00AM Eastern Time). The theme will be announced when it starts.

Details are on the Indies vs Gamers jam homepage.

You may want to test out API integration now so you don't have to fumble around during the jam.

By looping in gamers as well as devs, we hope to get indie gaming more well known by the gaming community at large. I hope to see a lot of you there =]

Hi Paul,

I know what a Game Jam is although I have not participated in one yet. I know that competition itself has its own merit yet was wondering if there are physical prizes and more importantly whether the winning team retains rights to the game they create.

Hi! There are no physical prizes for this jam, but there are certainly rewards. Of course there is the achievement of having made a new game and the satisfaction that comes with it. But a big draw is the publicity and exposure. The winning games will each be played by PewDiePie, Markiplier, and Jacksepticeye on their channels--which means that they will be viewed potentially millions of times.

In the last jam we did with PewDiePie, he played many more than just the winning games, so you probably won't even have to place in the top 5 to get some publicity. That jam also resulted in over 1.5 million plays/downloads for games from the jam. So that's the prize, really =]

And yes, you retain complete ownership of your game. Hope this helps!

Love to see some of these jam games on indieDB also to help them get that extra exposure! I'll be in touch Paul!

Thanks for your reply Paul. The massive potential for exposure is a great boon to all devs that get involved.
