IN THE YEAR 2000! is a new project based on the golden-age, pulp science fiction of the 1950s and ‘60s. Join a team of talented and ambitious individuals to create a beautiful, fast paced, humorous, and visually rich multiplayer first-person shooter game.

We are currently in the beginnings of production but find ourselves in need of a new programmer and concept artist(s). This is a freeware title that we are developing to get some experience and get our names out there in the industry.

ITY2k
Is a tongue-in-cheek re-examination of the Cold War Era Sci-Fi/Fantasy movement known as retro-futurism from propaganda-driven American and USSR perspectives. Imagine clunking warrior robots of tomorrow, giant death rays, techno-future Soviet and American empires stretching across a rich and fantastic solar system. The player will find themselves in control of either a communist killing machine or a capitalist corporate defender as they face off in a number of visually deep settings taken right out of this whimsical era of Sci-Fi.

Programmers will code the game using UDK/Unreal Engine 3, as well as tie ins to the Steamworks API. UnrealScript experience is preferred, but not a requirement so long as you think you can handle picking it up quickly.

Concept artists
will be asked to draw and paint detailed examples of the visual style of the environments, characters, and assets that will be implemented within the game. The visual style must have some serious depth in terms of color, shape, and
story, and all applicants should be able to demonstrate this in their concepts.

Overall we’re looking for smart, dedicated participants who share our drive to make it in the gaming industry. Submit examples
of work to get started on this exciting project as soon as possible.

The Team

This is our first project together and we are all very excited. We run a professional, but also relaxed and open system. All participants are encouraged to give their input on all aspects of development. You will be working with everyone on the
team, and will be able to give and get constant feedback and guidance.

We aim to establish networks and relationships with those involved in this project, and hope that this team will develop the potential to undertake commercial ventures in the future.

Our leadership team consists of:

Justin Elder - Producer / Project Manager

Spenser Flugum - Art Director / Environment Modeler

Eric Rosloff - Lead Game Designer

I’m one of the writers on the ITY2k project and have been involved with its development since the beginning of the year. Personally, I’ve yet to find a team combines the same blend of imagination, creativity and professionalism as the guys involved with ITY2k; regular team meet ups and active intercommunication via google wave ensure that everybody’s contribution is valid.

ITY2k has the potential to be a great portfolio builder for any aspiring programmers and concept artists interested in joining up. If the thought of chrome encased robots battling it out against a vibrant pulp sci-fi background appeals to you, be sure to drop Justin a line and get involved!
