This may only be important to the Asimov fans here, but check this out:

Lies.com

Fox made an action film, and renamed it after Isaac Asimov's I, Robot. The movie has nothing to do with the book, besides its name and a few references to Asimov's 3 laws of robotics. I doubt boycotting would work, I just find it sad they'd ruin the books name like this. :(

Uhh he wrote the original Bicentineal man, he didn't make the movie.

Go and actually read I,Robot or better yet get The Complete Robot and u'd see the quality of his works. They're all short stories so u can take it slowly at a time if its too strenous for u :)

Bicentenial Man was ok. But a little cheesy because It didn't really have enough action to interest me, but it is a good movie. :D

My god, I saw that trailer, and it mutilated the book.

A.) The book discusses about what it is to be human through the short stories. It does include a small murder investigation of a robot I believe, but no "conspiracy" to take over the worl with a butler robot army

B.) The movie leaves out the other two laws: Here are the laws in complete form:

1.) A robot can not harm a human being
2.) A robot must follow the orders of humans unless it conflicts with rule 1
3.) A robot must preserve itself unless it conflicts with rule 1 or 2

The movie only mentions the first rule.

C.) The book was a bunch of short stories. How do you make an action movie out of a bunch of philosophical rambling that are only a few pages long?

I seriously suspect they might get sued by the Asimov Estate for mutilating his works so much. We don't need another blasphemy against the masters of sci-fi.

On another note, did you know that Asimov invented the word Robotics? It's true (According to the Oxford English Dictionary, version 2)

Exactly! They just want to cash in on unsuspecting Asimov Fans and the illiterates who wont read the book anyway.

Perhaps its part of a grand scheme! Make the movie so bad that Asimov fans will see it, complain and attract more Asimov fans to see it to see the inconsistancies! ITS A CONSPIRACY! :paranoid:

Some people just really trash it. Most agree that the short story is better.

A tale of two stalkers: he saw the picture in her profile; looked up the host. He haxx0rz3d into server to acquire logs and IP address of user who uploaded picture. Then he had friend at ISP look up address. He showed up at her door with her favorite flowers and discovered she was... married. Moral: start research by looking up marital status.

Well, considering they happen to not follow the rules at all, AND the directors admittance that he just stuck in the rules, susan calvin, and replaced the original name Hardwired with I, Robot, I think my judgements are pretty damn accurate.

I'll borrow my dads once i get home.

i read some of his work under the alias of Paul French and it was great.

Also read one of his anthologies and it was awesome. Movies always tend to be different from the books though.

Stupid

There is a short story about a robot theorizing that, because no perfect thing can come of an imperfect thing, that he wasn't made by humans (Even though he was)

Asimov is one of the masters of Sci-fi
