You're doing your stuff(modding). Suddenly someone contacts you with some msn, icq, whatever that kind of programs there are... This someone is a newbie who wants some help from you, because you are experienced. Do you give help? I usually give help, but now I'm totally completely exhausted of answering to questions. I just had to block the questions. And all the stuff was asked from me is written into a text document. It just feels stupid to almost copy&paste stuff from that text document Why can't people read manuals if they have them? |

I think pointing them in the right direction is the proper way to go. You shouldn't cater to their every question, because people don't learn that way. People learn through problem solving. So if someone was for instance to ask me how to map, I would point them to an editor, tutorial/manual, and send them on their way. --

That's exactly what I do. And if something is in a manual, I'd tell them to read it and ask me questions if they didn't understand what the manual was saying, but I wouldn't try to answer every question they have. |

I've tried to point into a manual/tutorial... no luck in that... |

Beat them into submission, then hook them up into an electro-shock therapy machine to warp their innocent minds as we see fit. |

Give them help! Seriously. as long as they ask nicley, then tell them what they want to know as long as you know the answer. You could be helping a future modder make a masterpeice. |

I doubt it, anyone with any future potential would probably realize that "where there's a will, there's a way." It's not anyones job to mentor someone unless you choose to do so.The problem is, people want instant gratification without doing half the work? Why would people post their progress in a turorial? The only people who will become successful is the ones that learn by their own ambition, not someone who's most common phrase is, "alright, what do I do next?" --
