Introduction:
A lot of mods fail do to overwhelming themselves with fetures that streach release dates to far, and people lose interest. The main focus behind this mod is to start small and simple. If the game catches on, we will add content.

Description:
Stellar Conflict is a space simulation/arcade game played online. Players join one of the 3 teams (Humans, Ometh, or Dimenuli) and fight for control over sectors, and planets. Some possible objectives may consist of destroying the enemy’s spacecraft carrier, escorting a convoy through a sector, or simply destroying as many enemies as possible.

Each team will have a limited amount of spawn points. Each time a player respawns, there teams points drop by one. Once they reach zero, there team has exhausted its resources, and has lost the battle. A team may gain back spawn points by completing objectives, and protecting sectors.

Players can chose from several space crafts per team, and outfit there ships with an array of missiles, guns, particle beam weapons, phase shifting lasers, and mines, using battle points collected by killing other players. Weapons give firepower in exchange for maneuverability and power, so balancing the load is a challenge of its own.

Story:
In the year 2010, a strange alien space colony is found abandoned, orbiting the planet Mars. The discovery sparks a space race that rushes the people of earth into a flurry of technological advancements. Earth throws its resources into researching the technologies that make the space colony work. Its weapons systems, optical camouflage, engines, and power generators are reverse engineered, and adapted to human technology to produce war ships, and fighter crafts. Several months into the production of the human’s first space cruiser, NASA makes public its knowledge of a hostile alien race that approaches earth, seeking the space colony. Humans begin to ban together, and prepare for the onslaught ahead, forming the U.E.S.F. (United Earth Space Force) and recruiting pilots to fight the new threat.

Soon after the discovery of the space colony (designated by the military as EDOC-1), a small fleet of creatures appear at the edge of our solar system, but it is not the enemy, it is the Ometh, a 3rd race who have come to fight along side the humans.

Space combat is always good. The story is god but you should explain that third race better. They just seem to be thrown in.

Why Half-Life 2 ?

Why 2 mappers ? What can they make except SPACE and starships?

The full dev doc talks more about all the races. Thats just a run down.

Why HL2? We all know that engine can do almost anything, why not? Once people start pushing the limit, games will get better. People may chose the HL2 engine over somthing else if they see space sims on it, MMORPGs, RPGS, FPSRPGs, WW2 games, just about everything. Hell I have seen a sidescroller planed for HL2.

Why 2 mappers? Mapping is not all about making the geomitry, alot of wokr goes into ballancing the map, and making it interesting. There will be all kinds of stuff floating around in space. Its less realistic, but more fun :)
