I just got Guild Wars (A MMORPG that came out about two months ago) and it's quite awesome. Very high Quality, and plus there's no monthly fee. I was just curious if anyone else on ModDB played it regularly, what your thoughts are on it (or what you've heard about it if ou don't). Maybe we could form a ModDB guild por something. |

Poland is one of the bigger nationalities in there. I know many polish people and clans in the game, despite me not actually playing it GW's very, very, very boring if you're playing it on your own or with random people. And that's the thing that stops me from buying it, because not always everybody from your clan is online. Also i don't like the ridiculous lv limit (20? Why the hell is leveling in there for anyway?), shitload of useless skills and the stupid method of gathering gear. Edited by (in order): bart2o, bart2o -- |

Same for me. I played it, really enjoyed it for like a week, and instantly dropped the game for good. It just got so boring, that nothing really attracted me to it anymore. I guess I'm just tired of MMORPGs in general. Who knows? All I know is that it's going to take a lot to get me back into it, sad to say. -- "He who fights with monsters might take care lest he thereby become a monster." |

Zelda is an RPG? That's news to me. And stop posting back and forth, you two. Take it to an IM if you want to do that. The thing with Guild Wars was, when I first started playing it, I thought it was actually pretty fun. Despite it being sort of a knock-off of Diablo, I ran around the landscape using two different classes and nuking all the monsters I could see, seeing as how I was a pyromaniac by heart. However, after a while, I noticed I couldn't see anyone outside of the towns or small meeting spots. The thing I like most about MMORPGs is the social interaction you get with other players, which is why I bought Final Fantasy XI. You're able to party up with other players from level 10 to level 75, and there was so much to keep you involved that I never strayed too far from the experience (until just recently). Plus, the game's artistic style was much more attractive than Guild Wars, in my opinion. In the case of a game such as that, I don't mind paying for monthly fees, because I know I'll get my money's worth. For Guild Wars, though, I feel sort of empty when I play it, even with the PvP mode, which I did get into for a good week or so. I guess I'm just waiting for the right MMORPG to come along to hook me in like Final Fantasy XI did (got to lvl 60 with that character). Perhaps LOTR Online, Phantasy Star Universe, or D&D Online will do it for me. I won't know until I try them. EDIT: Oh, and Stallion, don't even try Matrix Online. It has such lame production value, and the combat in the game takes you out of the experience. Go buy "City of Heroes" instead. You'll thank yourself for that one, as it is 10 times better. Better to buy a great game than a below average game, after all. Edited by (in order): Karuto, Karuto -- "He who fights with monsters might take care lest he thereby become a monster." |

GW does a good job of making things more skill based. Ganking is pretty much impossible since the PvP areas are more organized, and you can't 'steal' other people's kills, since when you're in a PvE area, you're either alone or in a party, and you all share Exp and money, regardless of who does the fighting. That way healers level up just as quick as fighters. |
