What is a good free piece of software to use to make sound for the Source Engine. Mainly gun sounds, explosions, and various beeps and bloops. Ty all! -- There are only three people in the world who can do what I do - and I'm two of them. |

You could try Audacity as your base editor, but if you're wanting to make sounds from scratch, you'll need to invest in recording gear and get into that whole shpeal. No way around it. Easier way is if you can find free sound effects libraries, then layer/edit them to your liking into your own customized sounds. |

Personally, I use protools to record/modify/process sound, and often times I will use FMOD to visualize implementation. FMOD is free to use (unless you go with the very nice version), and is fairly powerful. It is used in a load of games, and is easy to learn. Other than that, rb12 is right, many of your sounds will be splicing and dicing other sounds and combining them into new ones. |

Thanks guys, it is very much appreciated =) I'll look into it all (and I do have access to about 3 amateur recording studios in case I need them, but chances are I will be splicing sounds) -- There are only three people in the world who can do what I do - and I'm two of them. |
