Time to Step UP Thread

In case you have been living under a rock, i am presently working full time and flying overseas for up to 3 months in only 20 days time. Hence the lack of seeing me on this site recently.

Whilst I am overseas I will be endevouring to jump online and keep all you awesome modDB peeps inline and behaving however I will only be able to do so for restricted lengths of time so following in modDB traditions and keeping this site dedicated and made for the fans I am posting here now open discussion on the future of this site and its maintenance over the coming months.

Firstly though the future of this site is awesome, the first few pillars of the modDB v2.0 have been laid and let me say right now i'm even proud of my efforts. The site is smarter and faster to use, its easier to update your mod, less complex to navigate and just sexier. The new administration is where the majority of the benefits will be seen and whilst many standard members will think "thats great empower them even more" let me just say the quality of news posts will be easier to maintain and it will no longer be a hassle of going through 50 pages just to authorise the last news posts for example. Everything has been planned (along with 2 special surprises) but alas the sad news is it won't been seen until i get back from overseas.

Now onto the ongoing maintenance. Unfortunatly for the time been v1.5 of the modDB is here to stay and whilst administration wise it is a fair poor system we have to stick with it and keep things running. As such this is the perfect chance for a few members and present staff to STEP UP and assume different responsibilites.

Based on the following public discussion members maybe made moderators, they maybe not but essentially what we are needing is someone to assume my role as the "modification authorisor", we need people to keep the poll's and features fresh (not to mention a mod of the month) and people willing to authorise and fix news on the main site (not just wanting to get on the modDB team so they can brag and get their mod publicised because trust me, azz0r, myself, cheapie, greg, hunter, BW72 will be quick to revoke your privledges and put you back in your place!

So staff and members, please express your interest / concerns / throughts and problems here. I will maintain a little private discussion with the present staff but the majority will be posted here for all modDB members to share.

AH nice indeed, well im not to bothered about waits, i will be interested to see this all complete.. I like the idea of "different moderators" doing different jobs, very nice

azz0r I'm glad to see your old avatar back, I like that one best.

Anyhow, Scott don't worry about modDB we will persevere as always. Surprises make me excited, and I hope that azz0r let's you relax on the PC at his home and play with the DB for awhile.

As far as staff is concerned, I think a few of the existing ones could be cleaned out, because I see about half of them here regularly (not just at the forum). That's not my business though, that's for the multi-dotters.

There are a couple of members that I know would do great with mod business, but they'd need to step up and make themselves known, I won't volunteer anyone.

i would like to be a moderator so i can delete spam posts and close spam threads too i think i could help to keep the forums cleaner than they are now, i'm not saying that the moderators aren't doing their work, they are doing it fine, but a little more help never hurts right?. Anyway, just an idea lol

Yeah, the help is needed on the mod end of things, the forums are fine.

indeed, ive already asked on INtense (on his profile) if i can help out with mod handling (the forum eees fine )

then i could help with the MOTM but if i would need someone to spell check my work because english is not my first lenguaje(sp?) so you could find some pretty ugly mistakes

And most of the staff is fixated on HL mods, we need some dedicated BF/Unrealies/Quakie(2 and 3)s.

If I had a more competent PC at my disposal I'd be happy to test out some mods, but as it is right now I am stuck sharing my mom's.

I for one would be happy for more mods to be mentiond rather than just HL

Dunno what bs cheapie is spouting. I wouldnt advise taking on anymore staff until v2 because we dont need anymore cookies spoiling the forum broth.

Things are fine as they are now, just remove some dead weight and everything will be fine.

agree but activate some peeps who want to help.

Like cheapie said.....we need staff who are into paticular games. I want to interview some qk mods but I dont play the game so.....
