ENGLISH AND ROMANS AND GAULS OH MY !! Thread

I have this idea for a medieval mixed Mod..

Now think Cavalry And Raids on Strongholds.. think Battles like Braveheart where each of you is a Soldier or warrior waiting for the LORD (Commander) to give the sgnel to charge..

Raids of Castles and battles in villages.. Now lets do it with Countrys from all over the world..

Imagen Carthaginian Elephant riders, or Vikeing Beserkers versing Samurai..

Instead of cars we can jump on Horses or armoured carriges for transport.. Long ships in the waters..

The Possabilities are endless

And we can have all the classes in it but For example ::

English:
Assault: Knights
Spec Ops: Scouts
Snipers: Archers or Crossbowmen
Medic: Monk
Engeneer: Siege Weapon operator oof some sort.
and so forth

Japenese:
Assault: Samurai
Spec ops: Ninjas
Medics: Gaisha Warriors
and so forth

Vikeings
Assault:Beserkers
Medic: Druid
Specops: Fanatic or Runner
amd lots more..

Romans
Assault: Gladiators
Support: Legioner
Sniper: Spear throwers. forgot there names..

I mean these are afew off the top of my head but im sure alot of people will have good input for it.. i mean it would be alarge job, but with skilled people it would be possible.. it would be fun diffrent and exciteing to rush into battle mounted on horse arrows flinging, chargeing on foot.. raiding off ships... lineing up befor a charge with the lords meeting on the terms of battle.. cultures meeting in battle that have never met..

Its good cause its not fantasy.. but itll be fun and intense melee fun. left click could be atack for warriors and right click parry or defend with shield.. special abillities could intel grappling hooks for ninjas and scoutes.. shurikens and the like for them also.. Beserkers could get throwing axe or something.. i mean theres alot that could be done with it...

I like the idea, sort of. But if this mod was to be half decent the atmosphere would have to be awesome. I don't think this is going to be possible online, as there won't be enough players. And offline, well the bots are pretty crap.

I cant see people having fun with 1 on 1 matches....

This is another reason that it has to be real quality! Because if you created this, and made it look awesome, you'd get alot of interest. Where as if you make it look amateur, you won't get away with it, it won't be fun, cuz there won't be any people.

Hope you get my point. If you make it.... Make it bloody good.

What about creating a moving background? Ive seen it done on call of duty: United Offensive. In one part of the game u have to assault a town and there are multiple squads but only ur squad is real, the other squads are part of the background and arent affected by you (firing shots at them does not hurt them, the bullets go right through them as if they arent there). I dont know how this would b acheived but it would add to the atmosphere and help to make the players feel more involved, all thouigh they wont be able to interact or move right up to their other allies ( except those human players who are real). It would be sort of like a cutscene thats playing around you whilst your playing, although there would have to be a sort of natural barrier in between you and the other armies. Im not sure if its even possible on the battlefield 2 engine but it would help to compensate the lack of troops on the playing field. This is just a thought that occured to me when i was reading this thread so like i said im not entirely sure if it would work.

They are ussually called NPCs or BOTS. Maybe they are not able to be interactable with, and are just there as eye candy, but bots they are.

yeah, but how do you have just melee weapons(knights)??? wouldn't it mean u just have to walk up to the oppenent and attack which is mostly luck... There has never really been a FPS melle game that worked. What i was thinking was if you could control the sword with your mouse instead of just clicking. That would be awesome when charging with horses.
I don't know why ppl think this wouldn't be work because you could have a 64 people server. Although in groups of 5-10 would still be fun wouldn't it.

Yeh i know what you mean, this mod idea has archers, and tbh, who's gonan want a sword when you can fire from afar with a bow?

Try watching the videos. I think they do somewhere on their main page aswell.

now think about battlefield 2 for a second, think about all the retards who are just plain stupid and annoying and ruin the game, not everybody will line up in platoons, not everyone will play the game how it should, and to be honest, battlefield 2 is a horrible game to do a mod with now.

Too true. I was.. let us just say, unimpressed when I first played Battlefield 2 online.
