Elemental Mod | Locked | |

Ok, here's the idea that popped into my head. An elemental knight mod. At the beginning of the game, you choose which element to be. Fire/Air/Earth/Water would probably be the easiest elements to find attributes for. If any of you have played U4E Fortress for UT, then you've seen the elemental system that MaxSmoke's used there. Unlike that system, however, I was thinking of a more weapon based mod rather than a spell-casting one. There would be a few different classes to choose from, so the combat wouldn't be the same each time...Maybe a Knight, an Archer, a Heavy Fighter (Not sure on a name) with an axe or somesuch, a quick melee fighter...I need help with some ideas there. The elemental systems could go like this: Air)+1 attack, -1 defense. Quick to deal the blows, but a little weaker in the HP area. Speed is fastest of the four elements. At a disadvantage when fighting Fire. Best at fighting Earth. Earth)-2 attack, +2 defense. The tank of the four. He's slow moving, but can take a lot of hits. His slow speed is offset by his large amount of health. He's good at fighting Water, but can't stand up to Air. Water)-1 attack, +1 defense. The most balanced of the four. Water moves faster than Earth or Fire, but slower than Air. His attacks are normal with a better-than-average defense. His attacks aren't quite good enough to break through Earth's barrier, but he's extra-strong against Fire. I'm not quite sure about these balances, so I might need some help here, too. As the game progresses, you'll accumulate experience points and get skills to use. You won't gain HP, but you will gain skills that will keep you alive longer, or kill your enemies quicker. Just an idea I'm throwing out there. Let me know what you guys think of this preliminary idea. Thanks! -- "No! Try not! Do...or do not. Yes, but do you think his idea would work? He wasn't asking about Gargoyle Arena. I think your elements are a bit backwards though. Fire cannot survive without air. I'm not sure how you would rearrange it, only a thought. |

I'm glad to hear that some people out there like the idea. Thanks for the tips. On the Fire-Air thing, air is what allows fire to burn...making it burn hotter in its presence, but you do have a good point. I didn't think Fire would be that good against Earth, so I made it good against its opposite. I'm not sure how to re-arrange it, either, honestly. I was just trying to find some sort of balance. I'm not really sure how all the weapons would work with the elemental properties. Whether we should make a base set of weapons and give them special properties when held by a player of a certain element, or make each element have its own distinctive weapons, I'm not really certain. Both ideas have their ups and downs. Thanks for responding. It's good to know I'm not the only one who likes the idea, as sketchy as it may be in these early stages. - Edited By Talon On Sat 11th, Oct 2003 @ 11:35:35am -- "No! Try not! Do...or do not. This would be an awsome mod if sum1 could make it, an it would be sweet with the Ragdoll mod -- ModDB Fucking Oldtimer and (ex) Crow |
