Does Luck exist? Thread

Do you think Luck is a load of rubbish?
Do you think you can do every un-lucky thing and still be lucky?

I think luck is stupid and pointless, a lucky charm wont help you

I think the word Luck is just a fancy word for when chance goes all the right ways for you. Bad luck is the complete opposite. I like hoping for luck though as its fun.

Im lucky because i have much luck, howcome? i dunno just a lucky guy

luck is just a word
but yet , it does help

Becuase if you wish someones luck, it basicly gives them more convidence, so in a way it has some kind of real effect.. unless you dont believe in it, it wont have any effect :/

So what about lucky charms, they defanately are a load of cr@p

but if you believe they have some "power" then its most likely you will succede in things becuase you believe your luck charm helps you

luck does exist, people that don't believe in luck have bad luck. ...really i mean it.

I think perhaps sometimes have luck or superstition can lead to hope and sometimes hope can bring success but no I do not think that "luck" itself exists... it is just a figment of our imagination that explains why sometimes near improbable things happen...

Lets first just figure out a couple of definitions of luck:

• Seemingly - but not actually - random series of events that lead to something fortunate happening to you. You consider yourself "lucky" for that to have happened. My opinion: sure, why not?
• Some divine(?) intervention or just an attribute of you that causes something fortunate to happen to you for reasons other than cause and effect. My opinion: I find it hard to believe, but hey- it can never be disproven and unless there's a god that feels like coming down and telling us about it then it can't be proven... so hmmm I dunno
• Something else?

My opinion is that luck is a selfish theory that involves the belief that you (perhaps in slightly less extreme terms) are the centre of the universe. Things 'go right' for you because you're lucky.

Now, the word 'luck' apart from that is perfectly normal, fine thing. You're lucky when things go your way, though there is no way you can affect that 'luck' (if you do, it's not luck anymore, it's the results of your efforts). People believe in luck to different extents. Good luck charms don't affect your luck because they have no relation with the other members of the universe, but perhaps having a 'good luck charm' will subconsciously boost your confidence and capabilities, like some sort of 'placebo effect'.

Wow SeienAbunae, Your good at making me hurt in head . Personally i believe in luck although it is chance as SeienAbunae said. But luck is when you walk in a teachers office (after just giving a student a wedgie then dragging him along the floor by his underwear ) adn while in teachers office he sits athis computer to check his emails quickly adn gets one from his "cyber" friend. And he says come back tommorow. They never ask for you again. Thats luck so i think luck Does exist thats my opinion

someone says wish you good luck, you hold your charm tight, subconsciously you are boosting your strength and believing you can do it.

Anyway, I'm going to have to go with the fact that luck is inside people's head, thus cause them to be more optimistic, thus sucess. However, I have a story.

Heard of lucky horse shoes? Well, my relatives had them sent to me, and the same day I got them, I got a free 120g hard drive from my parents same day. Now that is what I call lucky

There is no such thing as luck, I believe. For example, if someone says they are lucky because they got out of a detention does not mean they are lucky. What about all the times they DIDN'T get out of detentions? It is an unlikely favorable outcomes. If you compared your "good luck" to "bad luck" ratio, you would find that it is at least close to what probability predicts.

Which basicly means its not luck
