Hello, I just wanted to know if Game XP actually improves comupter performance. This site is awesome by the way. |

Well, it's intended to optimize the gaming experience, so I expect that it does do that somewhat. Instead of being tweaked to fit all of these other needs, it caters directly to the game, which is a pretty nice deal. You made me want to download it. It's probably spyware, since there's really no way to improve the speed of games other than overclocking your video card or lowering detail/quality settings. If Windows bogs your computer down so much, then the computer really, really sucks, and you shouldn't play today's games on it. My computer has no slowdowns with Windows 2000 and it's only 950MHz. Not bragging though, just speaking in general that GameXP's for the likes of p2 400's. Edited by: leilei -- < insert subject games here >

Would purchasing RAM be the best/cheapest way to increase PC speed when gaming? |

Its one way. Basically, anything that you upgrade on your computer can help. So, RAM (In either speed or amount), CPU (Speed, both in total and FSB), Video Card (Video Card memory does not really help, except I do know that iD recommend a 256MB card for Ultra mode on Doom 3). Mobo upgrades might help, since they're an important connection between all of your componants. But generally, a better video card is the best way to improve game performance. |

Hey Short Cut Man or anyone, Do almost every video card availibe use DDR RAM? What is the fastest DDR RAM you can get? 3200? I am running a Radeon 9200 128mb and I plan to upgrade to something faster/better. Does the 9200 take DDR RAM; I ask this because I am having trouble finding what kind of RAM my PC takes. Thanks everyone |

Is there any way I can check what kind of RAM my computer takes? The motherboard is a Intel Desktop Board D850GB. The box says PC800 RDRAM. Is RDRAM better or worse than DDR RAM? Edited by: M11293 |

DDR ram is horribly expensive and on the way out...with ddr2 as the better and SD RAM being cheap and powerful to check what ram you have right lcick on my computer |

It says 512 mb of RAM. It does not specify what kind of RAM. |
