Every time I close and open Desura I need to do the deletion of all but the exe and the Common folder and have it re-install itself basically. I am sick of doing this and really shouldn't have to, so any fix or patch or whatever the hell I have to do to get it to stop breaking itself would be great.

My OS is Windows 8 64-bit, I haven't installed or uninstalled any games or mods between Desura failing and it works perfectly till I close it again so I cannot think of a specific reason for this happening. Any help with this would be much appreciated, please don't post telling me about the fix I just said I have been using each time this happens.

I'd like to add this fix now does not work.

Desura was never built for windows 8, I wouldn't expect it to be updated quickly to support it either, the issue is windows 8 not only being new, i heard it had serious limitations for developers.

Try ensuring all your desura folders have full read write access and your running desura in admin mode, you can also try running it in compatibility mode.

As far as I know Windows 8 only has limitations if you want to distribute through the built in store they have now, otherwise it's the same as 7 with a fancy start menu. I've already set Desura's folders for full access and always launch in admin mode, compatability mode oddly enough causes it not to launch at all. I have found a workaround for now which is starting a game from inside the folder (Gnomoria in this case) and for some reason that lets Desura open up with no problems at all.

Oh and I also have Desura on my Windows 7 laptop, has the same problem although happens about half the time instead.

If you are having problems with the app, just download the games directly from the site. Just add /download to the game profile URLs.

That's really handy to know, I thought I needed Desura because it tells me that whenever I just used the website. Considering I use a fair number of alpha games though the automatic updates are pretty much a requirement, I'd rather have to use the workaround instead of not at all.

Right now the app is as stable as it is going to get, we are working the the community who are currently building patches for the app but that wont be around for a few more months.
