How do you make Desura startup like steam where the password is saved? This is a real pain.

I have Auto checked, but it doesnt seem to do anything.

Hmmmm, your problem happened to me a few times, then it worked - probably after an update. Dunno why Desura initially didn't remember the password.

do you keep login in to moddb or desura website as this invalidates the auto login.

Sorry lodle I don't quite understand your response. Do you mean that if they are logged into the ModDB or Desura website, that the Desura client auto login does not work?

This happens to me too! Once every one to two weeks, Desura will forget my password when my PC boots up, and won't auto-login like it normally does.

This is a pain for me because I don't reuse passwords, so I have to hunt around for my Desura password, and sometimes it's easier just to cancel the login.

This happens on weeks where there have been no Desura updates, and I very rarely use moddb or the desura website (I definitely don't have an autologin - "hello guest"), so I doubt that's related.

This is happening to me too, except it's not every few weeks, it's every time I start/restart my system or the program.

Every time I sign in I make sure to check the 'Auto' box under the password. I then go into the 'General tab in settings and make sure 'Auto login on start' Auto start Desura' 'Silent AutoLogin' and 'Save username on login' are checked. but every time I restart my system or just the Desura app the 'Silent AutoLogin' is unchecked and unless I made sure to check 'Auto' at the login screen, 'Auto login on start' is also unchecked.

It seems like the app just isn't saving those to settings? All other settings seem to stay at what I set them when the program restarts except for these two.

and considering being automagically logged onto moddb, havent tried disabling it and then trying to see if it saves my credentials on Desura, but then again I have this logic that tells me that even if browser saves my credentials and logs me in automagically, then atleast Desura should remember my credentials even if it doesnt want to log me in.

Getting very annoyed with this... Thanks for anyones help

Are you logging into Desura on multiple computers? Because if you login on one it will log you out of the other

Nope just got Desura on my Desktop... I actually never used Desura since I was waiting for the Linux client, but installed it recently on my Win7 partition to redeem my humble indie bundle desura keys and play it through Desura, and everytime I startup my PC the username and password paramaters are blank, even if I select the auto checkbox, and in Desura settings I check the settings that it remembers me.

As I say, since the username and password field remains clear, it doesnt seem to save the information, like caches the information. So I doubt the problem is being logged in via another account or desura app, because that would only prevent it from automagically signing in, but will still save the cached crendentials, which in this case it doesnt do that.

Thanks for the reply, but still hoping for a solution!

Just so you all are updated, we are looking into this and how this can be improved/resolved.

What happens is that the autologin token gets invalidated when you log into the web site some times (normally due to relogging in on a different computer)

Thanks, I have noticed that even my desura settings reset to default as well, so I believe it isnt updating some form of config, and keeps using the default config, could explain why it doesnt cache the credentials either. I havent found any recognizable config files to fiddle with, and neither do I want to fiddle with the rest. So will await a resolution from you guys. Hope this was helpful :)

Strange, I access the moddb webpage from 2 different PC's, the laptop I'm on now, and my desktop, and my desktop dualboots both win7 and ubuntu, and all are configured to auto login for moddb, and no issues here as far as login for ModDB goes. Perhaps it is because I'm not logged onto ModDB on two different machines at the same time, but that doesnt really explain how this is related to the issue of desura not saving and caching my credentials. Unless you mean that we shouldnt login to moddb if we are already logged into desura at the same time? Which I understand, but even then, the worst that would happen is you get kicked off of desura and need to relogin, however desura should still save your credentials, which it is not. So I doubt the problem is this. But just to confirm this I am going to log out of ModDB on both machines and try desura again, I predict it wont make a difference, but will confirm here as soon as I do that.

The issue is when the auto login token expires or get reset. Normally this happens by logging on to desura/moddb/indiedb after the autologin token is saved.
