First of all I want to announce that we will release a complete C++ MOD SDK with an updated LUA documenation soon! And as our R&D Manager already said in his forum post: "You're not being ignored just those things take their time...". I hope you all like this news and prepare for the second surprise.

With the release of the c++ sdk the cryengine will be the easiest modable engine. IMO this engine is even better than source and the netcode is since patch 1.3 very good.

He just didn't upload the pics like he should have. But i am a mod maker for Far Cry, STALKER, Half life 2 ect,...
Cryengine is a wonderful engine with a superb editor. But simply the engine/element of physical gameplay ect, lacks a ton from hammer/source/quake/x-ray/unreal ect,..

The movements and attributes lack the feel like your really running, your more of a floating player without weight, the weapons sound fx is soo poor that when i fire it, it sounds soo faint it doesn't seem real. Btw, the engine in itself is too colorful. It needs dim, radiant darkend enviormental feel with realism. The engine as i say again is nice, but lacks alot to make you feel like your in the moment, and feel of it being realistic.

well i must say that when i played far cry i didnt feel like i was somewhere flying around the game and with a good speaker system like mine the sound fx doesnt sound bad at all. And actually i was pleased by the color richness, since most other games tend to have the dim and everything.

The weapon sounds are IMO very good.
The game Far cry is colorful and bright - yes, but you can easily change that atmosphere by choosing the render "cold" which is much more realistic. Also atmopshere, (movement), sounds is mainly content design and thats what you can change when you are modding.
IMO the engine is very capable. It can handle very high polycounts with a good lighting system and gives you the best editor by far. Look at the small level of source (HL2, Vampire) and you can see that the source engine is limited with todays hardware.

What are your probs modding far cry?
The editor is easy to learn and the interface is very similar to 3dsmax. The Sdk has plugins for maya and 3dsMax- maybe there should be another plugin for a free modeling software like gmax, too.

Considering scripting:
LUA is very good for fast and intuitive scripting. The only problem is that it is limited cause you only can change already existing parameters. But c++ sdk will be released soon, so these limitations will not exist anymore.:)

ok now the links worked :)
Id like to have a plugin for milkshape, since this is the program i use besides 3dsmax. Someone know if there will be one?

Considering gameplay I would confirm that HL2 is a little bit better than Far cry, though the first levels of Far Cry (before the trigens appear) are really awesome.
But IMO the engine of Far cry is better than source - I hated the ****ing small levels of HL2 and it´s tunnel level design. Source cannot handle big levels (with recent hardware) and a bitmap building is just around the nxt corner. Also u have to create an outstanding mod on source to get realized cause of 600 other HL2-mods!!!
